2010 Adam Bostick looked very good against lefties with a move to the pen, but he'll take his NRI shot at big-league LOOGY-dom with the Royals.
2008 Acquired last winter from the Marlins, Bostick spent all of 2007 at Triple-A proving to the Mets that there is little reason for him to ever pitch above that level. He has consistently put up solid strikeout numbers in the minors, but he depends more on deception than blow-you-away stuff, and that upper-80s fastball will only get him so far in the end. He'll get a chance at some point ...somewhere.
2007 He misses enough bats to be interesting, but remember, it`s the K/BB ratio that`s important. Bostick hides the ball well, but since he struggles to throw strikes, all the deception in the world isn`t going to do him much good--it`s not deception if the batter knows it probably won`t be near the strike zone, which could be one reason why he was traded to the Mets with Jason Vargas for Henry Owens and Matt Lindstrom. With the Mets rotation in a state of flux, to say the least, there`s a good chance Bostick will get to pitch in the majors at some point this season.
2006 Adam Bostick doesn`t throw hard, but mixes his pitches well. This led to some obscene strikeout totals in the low minors, but the results at Jupiter suggest he`ll need to make some refinements, particularly in the command department, to succeed against better competition. He`s still a very intriguing prospect, however. A trained martial artist can kill someone with Adam`s last name.
2005 Call us crazy, but we think if you lead your league in strikeouts, and do so at a rate of nearly 13 per nine innings, you have to be one of the top 20 prospects in the circuit. Baseball America left Bostick off their Sally League list. Conceding that BP and BA run at things a bit differently, I don't see how that kind of performance doesn't make you a prospect until you prove otherwise. Bostick throws a big deuceŚcause of the strikeouts and, by extension, BA's apathyŚand a reasonable fastball, and should be watched at Jupiter this year.
