2013 Barnes made the transition from starter to reliever last May, and he projects to be a pretty good one: nearly ready for the show at present. He won't overpower anyone with his fastball, which sits in the low-90s, but he features a hard, plus slider and a quality changeup that should allow him to retire batters from both sides of the plate. His 2012 sips of coffee could turn into gulps this year, and it wouldn't surprise to see him working the seventh or eighth innings for the Tribe within a year or two.
2012 In his first season at Triple-A, Scott Barnes, a lefty with a bit of deception in his delivery, pitched quite well. With an above-average fastball, a tight slider, and a change, Barnes could have a future as a back-end starter.
2010 Little did the Indians expect that no more monkeying around with General Garko would bring them a prospect as worthwhile as Barnes, but when Brian Sabean locks in, what's a team to do? Barnes may well end up another of the Tribe's seemingly limitless supply of low-velo lefties, but he can dial his heat into the low 90s at times, and he supports it with a plus change and quality curve. An eighth-round pick out of St. John's in '08, he's moving up fast, and in the right organization to make something of it.
2009 The Giants feel they got a steal in 2008 eighth-round pick Scott Barnes, a lefty out of St. John's who had no problems dominating in the full-season Sally League in his pro debut thanks to a three-pitch mix and an advanced feel for his craft.

(Gregjitsu from Still Southern Cal)
Well, he won't be a free agent until 2012, so it will take more than it took to get Ryan Garko (which was Single A pitcher Scott Barnes, who was considered one of the team's better pitching prospects) but nothing along the lines of Bumgarner. Maybe someone like Henry Sosa. (Eric Seidman)
