DateQuestionAnswer
2017-08-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)Stephen Gonsalves and Jack Flaherty continue to tear it up in the minors. Do you see either receiving a September call up and making an impact at the major league level?
(Tap Dancer from There)
Gonsalves just got to Rochester, so I wouldn't expect his call up to be imminent unless he continues to dominate. It looks like he's well below his innings output from last season, so if they keep hanging around the WC race, he could be an interesting option.

I'd be more surprised if Flaherty gets a call this year, with their rotation looking a little more crowded and Luke Weaver likely being the next in line at the Triple-A level. (Mark Barry)
2017-07-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)If you had to give up on two of these SP in a dynasty league full keeper who would it be, Vargas, Musgrove, Clevinger, Daniel Norris, Luke Weaver, Patrick Corbin or Blake Snell?
(MatternK from Point Mugu)
When you say "give up on" do you mean trade or release? Vargas and Clevinger both appear to be pitching above their talent level and peripherals, so if you can trade them they seem like good picks. If it's straight up "abandon in a roster crunch" I think I'd drop Corbin and then one of either Musgrove or Clevinger. (Nick Schaefer)
2017-03-30 20:00:00 (link to chat)Luke Weaver settle in as a #3 eventually?
(Sean99 from Chicago)
That's the best case scenario. A lot has to go right for him to get there. (Scooter Hotz)
2017-02-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Drop one: Luke Weaver, Jose Berrios, or Reynaldo Lopez.
(Ian from Canada)
Weaver. (George Bissell)
2017-01-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)What do you anticipate is the actual upside of Luke Weaver?
(Viktor from MD)
I'm kinda out on Weaver. He's always been a divisive profile, but I just think the stuff's too hittable. Maybe like a somewhat frustrating 3/4. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2017-01-06 13:00:00 (link to chat)Saw debate on a site about Jack Flaherty vs Luke Weaver. Said Weaver better short-term, but Flaherty higher ceiling and more likely to be starter long-term. thoughts??
(Donald T from the Towers)
Yeah, I can co-sign that. They are close enough for all that to be well within the fudge factor though. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2016-06-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Any thoughts on Luke Weaver? Future 3 or better? You'd hardly tell he missed two months with the way he's dominating AA over the past month. Have to love the low walks and strong K totals.
(Tom from MO)
Another popular name in the queue and although I haven't seen him since his amateur days he seems to have added a cutter. That will be an important pitch for him because his breaking ball is below average and he will need it to keep hitters honest. The fastball/change combination is above average but he must have a third pitch to continue to succeed. (James Fisher)
2016-06-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Can Luke Weaver hold up as starter? He's listed at 6'2, but just 170 pounds. Appears to be as scrawny as the ht-wt suggests. Does he have the frame that will support lots of innings at the major lg level?
(Mike from Springfield)
He's listed correctly. While that profile does give me pause, the arm action is clean and his injury wasn't arm related so I wouldn't be too concerned. (James Fisher)
2015-11-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)Doesn't seem like there's a prospect with a bigger difference in evaluations than Luke Weaver. I've seen middle relievers and number 2's. What do you think?
(Ben from Texas)
Well he certainly isn't a middle reliever, in my humble estimation anyway. I think he's a solid mid-rotation starter when all is said and done. (Christopher Crawford)
2015-06-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)What would you say is the ETA and upside of Luke Weaver? Thanks!
(Steve from St. Louis)
He could be in the majors by next season, though the Cardinals organizational pitching depth will probably prevent that. He's probably a high 4 starter, perhaps a solid 3 if the breaking ball takes a step forward. I like him a lot though and he's quite refined. He could move quickly. Another hit for the Cardinals front office. (Jeff Moore)
2015-06-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)Rank Palm Beach arms Luke Weaver, Alex Reyes, and Rob Kaminsky in terms of stuff and ceiling. Most intriguing position player at Palm Beach?
(Derek from Palm Beach (Florida))
Reyes..............Weaver....Kaminsky. The gap is notable between Reyes and the other two, and that's testament to him not a knock on the other guys. All three are quote good, Kaminsky's ceiling is the lowest, but he knows how to pitch with what he has. Weaver has a little bit better stuff and knows how to use it as well. Reyes is a stud though. He just needs to learn how to use it. (Jeff Moore)
2014-08-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Did you see Luke Weaver pitch at FSU? And what indicators would you be looking for once he starts throwing at Palm Beach? Thanks!
(dohogne from AZ)
I did not, but he's in Palm Beach now, so hopefully I'll catch him before the end of the year. At this point, I want to see if his velocity holds up at the end of a long year compared to where it was in college. That's the big test for a guy who's going to be a starter. (Jeff Moore)
2014-02-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)How would you rank these SP from 2014 MLB Draft for the biggest upside: Luke Weaver, Erick Fedde, Sean Newcomb, Grant Holmes, Brandon Finnegan, Luis Ortiz,
(Silverback38 from VA)
Are these real people? Sorry, I don't do draft stuff. Not enough bandwidth to do majors, minors, AND amateur (Paul Sporer)
