2013 The Giants' second-round pick in the 2011 draft, Susac made his pro debut in High-A last year. Not a mechanically sound defender at catcher, he displays poor footwork. That said, he's an above-average athlete at the position and has a chance to improve. He has good power but a poor approach at the plate. Susac has plenty of work to do, but there is enough here to be optimistic he can become a major leaguer.
2012 Second-round pick Andrew Susac is an excellent defender who was having a breakthrough offensive season at Oregon State before he broke the hamate bone in his left hand.

DateQuestionAnswer
2014-04-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is Andrew Susac anything more than a backup or do you think SF moves Posey to 1B or possibly 3B if Panda leaves and inserts Susac at Catcher ?
(Jerry from San Jose)
I like Susac as an average everyday catcher. Unless the Giants are just trying to move Posey for the sake of moving him (or prolonging his career), I don't think you move him to make room for Susac. (Mark Anderson)
2013-02-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Are either Jacob j.t. Realmuto or Andrew Susac viable prospects or just plain organizational depth?
(tigerw701 from minneapolis)
Realmuto is a very legit prospect. We aren't talking superstars here, but major league level projection, regardless of the risk. (Jason Parks)
