DateQuestionAnswer
2014-07-22 15:00:00 (link to chat)Who is the best player you have seen this year? One more... Any player blow you away when you were expecting not so much?
(johnwood427 from Chicago)
Carlos Correa blows me away with his physicality and approach. Only seen a few ABs, but he's a stud. Corey Seager was really impressive. Everything just comes so easy to him. Was fine at SS. Could move to 3B long term, but the issue with big guys at SS is bending over. He had no issues doing so. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-07-01 13:00:00 (link to chat)Everyone says Corey Seager will HAVE to move to 3B, but we are talking about an organization that has Hanley Ramirez at SS. Do you think it's that inevitable or have you seen any hope he could stick it out there?
(Carlos Flores from Hell)
I don't think he needs to move, at least not now. The Dodgers and Logan White have been adamant that he stick at shortstop. His glove is a 6 and he makes all the plays he can reach. The range is fringy but man, he could play shortstop for me any day. He's a better SS than Hanley is at this point. (Chris Rodriguez)
2014-07-01 13:00:00 (link to chat)Corey Seager - a Stud?
(Kevin from Colorado)
True stud. 6 hit potential, 6 power potential, 6 glove, 6 arm. (Chris Rodriguez)
2014-07-01 13:00:00 (link to chat)Corey Seager or Addison Russell? They seem pretty similar?
(The Dude from Office)
Different players. Russell the more athletic type, Seager more calm, cool, and collected. Both project to be plus shortstops, Russell a better chance to stick. I joked with a friend that Russell might have Derek Jeter ceiling and then a front office executive said the same thing last season, so that was cool. I like Addi a bit more. (Chris Rodriguez)
2014-07-07 11:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Corey Seager? Beast?
(Adam from NYC)
Beast. Will likely develop into an above-average third baseman with utility in both hit and power tools. First-division player and potential all-star. (Jason Parks on the Top 50)
2014-06-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Corey Seager? Any Chance he sticks at SS?
(Sam from ATL)
Seager is a large man. Like, he might be bigger than Carlos Correa. However, I do think there's a 50/50 shot he sticks at SS for 5+ years. He's someone who may jump into the top 15 prospects in the game by the middle of next year. He can flat out rake, the power is coming, and he's fluid in the field. I'm not sure how long he's going to stay there, but I do believe he makes his MLB debut at short. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-06-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)How good is Corey Seager? Can he stay at SS?
(Angelo from Nebraska)
I'm a big fan of Corey Seager. I think he's going to be a stud. But I don't think he's sticking at shortstop for much longer. FYI: Eyewitness report coming soon. (Ron Shah)
2014-06-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)You don't have to say who, but anyone on the mid-season top 50 list you strongly disagree with?
(Shawnykid23 from CT)
Not right now but I'm sure I'll disagree with some omissions rather than guys who made it. Unless Carlos Correa and Corey Seager don't make the cut. (Ron Shah)
2014-06-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)Who are some prospects you like significantly more/less than others on the BP prospect team?
(Shawnykid23 from CT)
Well, I cover the same area as Chris Rodriguez, so it isn't hard to find where we disagree. I think I'm higher on Corey Seager and Hunter Renfroe than he is. Some people aren't as high on Brady Aiken as I am. (Ron Shah)
2014-06-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Corey Seager?
(Steve from Nebraska)
I really haven't seen enough of these prospects to have a great opinion on them. Sorry. I'm a fan of Seager from what I've read and the limited I have seen on video, but it's a question better-suited for the prospect team (Paul Sporer)
2014-06-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)I know fantasy questions usually suck when it comes to the prospect stuff, but I traded Corey Seager for Mark Appel at the beginning of the season. How bad did I screw up?
(Justin from Chicago, IL)
Somewhere between Bartman and Buckner. (Jeff Moore)
2014-06-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Corey Seager and his potential. Any chance he sticks at ss?
(Mitch from Atlanta)
He's going to be a very good hitter on the left side somewhere. I've read two reports from two of our scouts here at BP, both of whom I respect. One believes he'll have to move to 3B, one believes he'll be able to stay at SS, and they're far from the only ones split on the topic. That just goes to show you that we simply don't know at this point. Either way, he's going to be a good player. (Jeff Moore)
2014-05-27 11:30:00 (link to chat)How good is Corey Seager? any chance he stays at ss?
(Mike from Nebraska)
Bat is legit. Big dude, and he can really hit. Advanced approach for a guy his age. I know that Ron and Chris Rodriguez had a debate about him at SS/3B. Personally, I'm going to lean toward 3B, as he has some trouble bending over. Just slide him there, and let the bat manifest. Reward will still be very, very good. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-05-27 11:30:00 (link to chat)Joey Gallo or Corey Seager?
(Eddie from LA)
Reluctantly, Seager. While Gallo's ceiling is certainly higher, and he's looking awesome this year, I want to see what happens against higher level pitching. None of Gallo's warts have been exposed quite yet, and I want to see how he does, particularly against arm side spin. (Jordan Gorosh)
2014-05-13 11:00:00 (link to chat)Any chance Corey Seager stays at SS? What is his potential?
(Ryan from Atlanta)
I think he's a 3B at the end of the day. Bat is going to play; hit and power. Most likely a ML regular with a chance to be 1st division. He gets overrated on lists based on the projection at shortstop, which as I mentioned, I disagree with and see a future 3B. (Jason Parks)
2014-04-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think Corey Seager stays at ss and how good can he be?
(Ryan from Albany)
Maybe in the short term, yeah. He's got a chance to be a pretty good hitter, I just think he'll wind up sliding over to third base. (R.J. Anderson)
2014-03-27 13:00:00 (link to chat)Your opinion on Corey Seager? any chance he sticks at ss?
(Jon from Kansas)
He seems like a high quality prospect, but I haven't seen much from him. Jason Parks wrote Seager would wind up at third base long term in his top-10 rankings piece, for what it's worth. (R.J. Anderson)
2014-03-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Corey Seager - Potential Stud or what are your thoughts? any chance he stays at ss?
(Craig from Buffalo)
I'm a fan. Long way out, though. I'd bet on 3B, but non-zero chance of sticking at SS. (Paul Sporer)
2014-03-21 14:00:00 (link to chat)What do you think of Corey Seager's potential? Do you think he makes a big jump this upcoming season and can he actually stay at short?
(Scott from Connecticut )
I only saw him for a game last year, so I don't have any strong thoughts as of now. I will after I see him with Urias in Rancho. I already thought he was massive when I saw him last season, so I'm very interested to see how much he's grown since. Don't see him as a shortstop. (Ronit Shah)
2014-03-21 14:00:00 (link to chat)Who are some of the lower level SS that stand out most for their tools? Who do you have your eye on?
(flashtheleather from deep in the hole)
Only get to see High-A guys since I haven't been able to make it to Arizona for spring training. Carlos Correa and Corey Seager are shortstops right now, but both may have to move over to third. I can't wait to see both of them once the season gets going. (Ronit Shah)
2014-03-21 14:00:00 (link to chat)what are your thoughts on Corey Seager? Potential?
(Eric from NY)
Potential star at third base. I'll have a better feel and stronger opinion once I see him play more than a game in High-A this year. (Ronit Shah)
2014-02-18 14:00:00 (link to chat)Was Corey Seager just slumping on his promotion last year or did any concerns pop up?
(Myrick from Charleston, SC)
I only saw him for one game; not enough to have a confident take on him. But in that one game, he looked a little fatigued and was lunging at off-speed offerings. (Ronit Shah)
2013-06-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Will Corey Seager be a top 25 prospect by the end of the year?
(bcransom from CA)
If he proves to the doubters that he is destined to stay at SS, yes. Will that happen? I'm not sure. I've seen him play shortstop and I saw I really, really good third baseman, not a true ML caliber SS. (Jason Parks on the Midseason Top 50 Prospects)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Corey Seager got a mention in the Fernandez article this morning. Does he have the ceiling to be a top 25 prospect down the line, or is he more of a high-floor type.
(wes from Dallas)
I think he does. It's not an up-the-middle profile, but I really believe in the bat and I think he could develop into an above-average defensive 3B. (Jason Parks)
2013-04-04 11:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Richie Schaffer? Can you compare his bat to Corey Seager's?
(Brian from Boston)
I don;t like his bat nearly as much as I like Seager's. Seager is silky smooth. (Jason Parks)
2013-02-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is Corey Seager a top 50 caliber prospect in your eyes?
(liam from dallas)
I can see the case for the that. He wasn't on our list, but that has more to do with the talent in the minors than with Seager. You could easily convince me that he belongs in the top 101. (Jason Parks)
2012-10-23 13:00:00 (link to chat)what player(s?) impressed you the most in Fall Instructs?
(knockoutking from East Texas)
Royals RHP Miguel Almonte was excellent. I really liked him. Dodgers SS Corey Seager was also impressive. He will end up at 3B, but he can really swing the bat. (Jason Parks)
