DateQuestionAnswer
2014-05-15 20:00:00 (link to chat)Pick up Clinton Hollon, Jairo Labourt or Miguel Castro over any of these injured upside pitchers: Tyrell Jenkins, Luis Heredia or Jose Martinez?
(traindoggah from maine)
I'd take a shot on Hollon at this point. Tough to take any of the injury struck pitchers over him. (Bret Sayre)
2014-01-27 13:00:00 (link to chat)I assume Luis Heredia's ceiling has dropped to the point of not being really in the top 101 conversation. Or was he in the conversation?
(JusitnG from Pittsburgh)
He wasn't in the conversation. (Jason Parks on the Top 101 Prospects)
2014-01-10 13:00:00 (link to chat)I read a report yesterday that Luis Heredia is in better shape. How much did last year hurt his stock and what is his ceiling?
(lee from Wisconsin)
Last year hurt, but it's part of the developmental process. He has to learn how to be a professional, all while being a teenager and dealing with a maturing body and a foreign lifestyle. If he really is starting to take control of his body, then that's a fantastic sign for a talented pitcher. I think he's got a shot to be a quality mid-rotation arm. (Mark Anderson)
2013-05-28 13:00:00 (link to chat)As a Pirates fan, I am thrilled but not surprised at the emergence of Tyler Glasnow and Nick Kingham. With the two of them along with Cole/Taillon and Luis Heredia, is there any other team that can match the Pirates impact pitching in the minors?
(James from Morgantown)
A ton of Pirates questions on here already from both Pittsburgh and West Virginia, and I think it's a good time to say I was probably too low on Pittsburgh in terms of their future. I wrote in the beginning that they were in danger of wasting McCutchen's prime, and while that's still true, I'm encouraged by their start and the performance of some of the young players. The key will be whether they'll need to pay full price to fill holes in the rotation after Wandy/Burnett leave since they got them on discounts in trades.

If those guys can form a rotation, then the Pirates are in terrific shape going forward. That's probably more a question for our prospects guys - I'd think the Cardinals are up there too.

But the Pirates have done a really good job taking care of business in a stretch of schedule with lots of Brewers, Cubs and Astros in it. The next stretch is critical with the Tigers, Reds and Braves, but they could emerge from that in position to give Pittsburgh a fun summer. (Zachary Levine)
2013-02-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Luis Heredia? Am I crazy to think this guy could become an ace someday? Thanks for the chats
(John from Kansas City)
I sure like him, and he is one of the few who *could* become an ace someday. Also, he's the same age I was when Sublime was, without question, my favorite band. A lot can change in just two years at that age, is what I'm saying. (Sam Miller)
2013-02-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Wondering about the Pirates' Luis Heredia. Is he impressive simply because he did good things at a very young age? or did he good things at a young age because he has great talent that could make him a front end starter?
(Mark Lutz from Henderson)
Good players do good things at a young age. I'm not sold that he is a front-end starter, but he can flat-out pitch and he will only get better. It might not always look pretty, but he can get outs, which is the main goal of a pitcher. (Jason Parks)
2013-02-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who would you rather have in your theoretical farm system. Luis Heredia or Kyle Crick?
(Asking For A Friend from Chicago)
Heredia (Jason Parks)
2012-12-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)What are the chances that Luis Heredia is the best prospect in baseball two years from now?
(cult from twitter)
Highly unlikely. I think he will make a better big leaguer than a prospect, if that makes any sense. (Jason Parks)
2012-04-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Any thoughts on Luis Heredia? Reports seem to be that he's really showing something despite only being 17. Where do you think he will start the season?
(ttt from Manhattan)
He could be a special arm; a legit number 1. He still has to learn how to actually pitch, using a diverse arsenal in sequence. The fastball is already quite good, and the secs will get there. The Pirates will probably take it slow with Heredia, as the arm is very young and the arsenal still immature. He will be worth the patience. (Jason Parks)
2012-02-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)You have Luis Heredia ranked much higher than others. What factors led you to do this? Is it just the pure upside potential?
(ttt from Manhattan)
I often talk about how few true No. 1 starters there are in baseball. There are also very few prospects who even have a SHOT at being a No. 1. Heredia is one of them. (Kevin Goldstein)
