2013-08-14 13:00:00 (link to chat)I'm in a keeper league that includes a 12 player minor league roster for the future. I currently own Stetson Allie and Rafael De Paula, my question is would you drop either or both of them for any of the following players: Alex Dickerson, Franklin Barreto, Eddie Butler, Lucas Sims? Thanks for your help!
(Jeff from Kansas City)
I'd take all of those guys over Allie, and especially Butler and Sims. (Jason Cole)
2013-06-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is Stetson Allie, the first base version, someone to keep tabs on at all?
(dianagram from Scrabble Central)
I don't think it happens, but I'm gladly admit to being wrong about him. (Jason Parks on the Midseason Top 50 Prospects)
2013-06-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)When do you see Wilmer Flores and Brad Miller getting called up? Also, Stetson Allie is absolutely crushing the ball. Do you think he is in the top 100 by the end of the year and what would you grade his power? 70/80?
(Tim from Philly)
I honestly have no idea. I could see him coming into the top 100 and his power is filthy. I'd want to see him before dropping 70/80 or at least read reports from people I respect, neither of which have happened yet. (Paul Sporer)
2013-06-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Max Muncy and Stetson Allie? Which is the more legit prospect? Both 22 and are on pace for a 30/100 season but Muncy is doing it at a higher level. Thanks for the chat!
(Jeff from St. Louis)
multiple Muncy inquiries, try to cover them here: Let's shelf the "on pace" and wait out some time, Allie is much more highly regarded by the scouts, and that should matter more now than any A/A+ level stats (and let's remember park factors, quality of competition etc isn't even across leagues within levels etc). So, no, he's not on any 'fast track' until he shows he can rake at AA. If you're not a blue chip, dues most be paid--for good reason. (Harry Pavlidis)
2013-05-28 13:00:00 (link to chat)I am keeping modest expectations for Stetson Allie. It is a neat story for sure, but his K rate is pretty scary and he is old for his level. The power is very real, however. Is a lefty mashing platoon guy pretty much his ceiling? Or with a lot of work, do you see him being able to be an everyday player at first base one day?
(James from Morgantown)
I'm more in the camp of old for his level and not facing a lot of quality sequencing and breaking stuff yet. If lefty mashing platoon guy is his ceiling, a major leaguer who produces some value is still an OK payoff given how low draft bonuses and minor league salaries are.

That said, there are few places I'd less want a right-handed power hitter than PNC Park. He probably has less value there than almost anywhere else, but that's a good problem to have if he can survive even the Florida State League. (Zachary Levine)
2013-05-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)Stetson Allie: legitimate hitting prospect?
(JusitnG from Pittsburgh)
Sure, in the lower minors. I dont think he is likely to hit against better pitching. (Jason Parks)
2013-04-16 20:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on the early success at the plate for Stetson Allie?
(tonynelson19 from MN)
I LOVE it. He's a real long shot to make an impact at the major league level, but the power display he's put on at West Virginia so far this season has been really exciting to see. (Bret Sayre)
2012-09-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Well done on the new format at BP, very excited for it. I spent a week at Pirate City in Bradenton last month for a baseball tourney and was pleased to find that one Stetson Allie was there as well. What are the chances that a player like Allie is able to successfully convert to a position player? And are the Pirates cutting losses by abandoning his arm by trying him out at first base?
(Jake from DC)
The chances are very slim. I'd bet against Allie developing into a major league quality talent as a position player. It's not always up to the team. It takes two to tango. You can't develop a pitcher who doesn't want to be a pitcher. (Jason Parks)
2012-06-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on the Pirates moving Stetson Allie to 3rd Base? Does he have the bat and athleticism to stick there?
(Railway13 from Junction Station)
He isn't too far removed from hitting, so there is a chance it can work. Long shot, though. The bat will carry hom. Hitting a baseball is the most important thing right now. Finding him a position will be the easier part. (Jason Parks)
2012-06-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thoughts on Stetson Allie?
(Ralph from Springfield)
I like the move. He wasn't showing progress in harnessing his stuff on the mound, and he was a potential first-round pick as a third baseman out of high school. Don't see any downside to giving him a try as a hitter, though I don't think he'll stick at third base. Moving to right field would make the transition a bit easier, I think, and I wouldn't be surprised if he saw time out there later this summer or in instructs. (Bradley Ankrom)
