DateQuestionAnswer
2017-03-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Jeffrey, What's your down time in a year?
(Broxton's Butt from Ohio)
I'm in it right now. Since lists wrapped on the site, I have had Futures Guide edits--which took a bit longer than I expected, thanks Jerry Dipoto--and we are staffing up now, since we sent seven prospect writers to MLB teams this offseason. I don't have any regular writing, so I get to do things like deal with the non-functioning microwave and wall heater in my house, be vaguely social again, and write 3200 words on Gabriel Ynoa. That ends with League previews and a trip to New Hampshire for Opening Weekend. Then it's #riseandgrind through to September and then it is list season again. (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2016-11-22 20:00:00 (link to chat)Where would Seth Lugo be on a top 100 if he didn't lose his prospect eligibility? Further, Does Lugo, Kevin Plawecki and Gabriel Ynoa give TB enough value for Alex Colome?
(Erik from LA)
Probably off it because of age and health. That hypothetical trade sounds quite fair for Colome, but I also suspect the Mets may just drop Lugo into that role themselves. (Jarrett Seidler)
2016-04-28 13:00:00 (link to chat)With no more Yusmeiro Petit, Josh Satin, Gabriel Ynoa love on the podcast, where will we get our fix of undue adulation for middling prospects?
(OoPMF2 from cornfields of PA)
I am writing about Kevin McGowan and Vinny Siena tomorrow for BP Mets, that may or may not float your vote (doesn't rise my tides honestly), and let's be honest, how long do you really think I will stay quiet about those sorts of things? (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2014-06-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Gabriel Ynoa didn't get promoted along with other top names from St. Lucie - do you expect that he's not far behind?
(Steven from New York)
He may get a call later this season, but despite having a great arm, he still has some work to do. Just having success at a level isn't enough to warrant a promotion. Scouts and scouting directors want to see certain things and they want to see them consistently. That's what Ynoa has to work on is the consistency. He just turned 21. Not everyone jumps from level to level mid year. Some guys stay in one spot the whole year and do just fine. It's not an issue for Ynoa, and frankly I'm glad he's still there so I can get another look at him. (Jeff Moore)
2014-06-16 13:00:00 (link to chat)I know you saw Gabriel Ynoa on one of his lesser outings - what can you tell us about him? Rafael Montero 2.0?
(Dave from Queens)
Different type of pitcher, but I guess you could say that in that they both project to be 3/4 starters with good control. (Jeff Moore)
