BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2013 A fourth-round pick in 2010 out of Texas A&M, Greene displayed a broad base of skills in 2011 that disappeared last year at Double-A, where he was old for the level. Only the plate discipline remained. Although he has played shortstop in the past, he is better suited to second base, where he spent the vast majority of his time in 2012. It's difficult to get excited about a second baseman who showed no offensive game as a 24-year-old at Double-A.
2012 While the Reds might seem to have more defensively indeterminate floaters than your average organization, that's not a bad thing; after all, it affords the brass considerable flexibility in deciding what to do with a guy. Eventually. And assuming they actually come to a decision. After starring at Texas A&M, Greene's blend started out with the up-the-middle positions, but 16 quick errors in Bakersfield and he's already seen as stretched at short, moving across the keystone once Didi Gregorius was healthy, then staying at second even after the Dutchman's promotion. Greene was supposed to hit on the strength of his college career; if that power in the hitter-friendly Cal League translates to Double-A, he's officially interesting.
