2014-05-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)I'm trying to have patience with Homer Bailey but it is becoming tough. I recently acquired Julio Teheran and Jordan Zimmerman through trades hoping to use Bailey as trade bait to upgrade my 3B slot which Bogaerts currently occupies. What 3B would you target?...I'm in need of speed, runs and RBIs.
(cruisinkc from Wisco)
Depends what you need, but I'd try something in the Matt Carpenter / Kyle Seager class. Bailey has been maddening, but the skills are still there. If you're shutout of anyone doing anything worth a lick right, go straight for the buy-low for buy-low move and ask for Carlos Santana or Brett Lawrie (Paul Sporer)
2013-11-22 14:00:00 (link to chat)Five years from now who you got: Kyle Seager or Brett Lawrie?
(Brett from Vicksburg)
Gimme Lawrie - he will be 28 in five years, right in the middle of his theoretical prime, while Seager will be 31 and potentially beginning to fade a bit physically. (Doug Thorburn)
2013-11-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hi Sam Thanks for the chat always enjoy your truth and a Analysis. Real quick if u were starting a fantasy baseball team who would be top 5-10 guys u would build around??
(Mike from Ri)
1. Mike Trout
2. Bryce Harper
3. Andrew McCutchen
4. Miguel Cabrera
5. Robinson Cano

But those are boring answers. If you want to know which players I might target at some point in a draft or auction, I seem to like Harper, Choo, Yan Gomes, Nelson Cruz, and Kyle Seager a bit more than the average person.

This chat is off to a slow start! (Sam Miller)
2013-10-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Do you think these guys can build off of their solid year and potentially have break out performances in 2014: Jason Castro, Brandon Belt, Kyle Seager, Danny Salazar?
(Derek from The Recliner)
I've always liked Belt, but I don't know if a guy who is coming off a .289/.360/.481 season can really break out. I mean, I guess he could hit .350/.420/.590 but I don't see that coming. Seager was a five win player by WARP too. That's beyond solid and into very good range. But of those players I like Belt and Seager the best to repeat their performance and/or improve incrementally. (Matthew Kory)
2013-06-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)There is some great fantasy coverage here at BP, but I think there's a gap in the overall literature here and elsewhere. You see a lot of work being done with recommending players that are owned in only a small percentage of leagues. The idea being "here are guys you can go get right now". What that doesn't really tell you, though, is whether those guys are actually better than the ones you have. For example, I have Kyle Seager, Jedd Gyorko, and Daniel Murphy filling out my 2B, MI, and CI slots. Would I be better off dropping Seager for a guy like Yonder Alonso? How do you evaluate a decision like that?
(ravenight from Boston)
I would not get rid of Seager for Alonso. The reason that we can't necessarily outline whether the available players will be better than who you have is bc it's impossible to know everyone's situation so we try to recommend guys for you to consider if you want to make a move. Of course, our Twitter availability, the comments sections, and chat like these are a great forum for the specific questions like yours! For me, the question is whether or not Alonso offers something I need. I think he and Seager offer similar things with Seager having 3B elig. so might as well hold Seags. I do like Yonder, though. (Paul Sporer)
2013-04-30 12:00:00 (link to chat)Would you sell high on Kyle Seager? What kind of final season line do you see him with?
(Billy from Olympia)
It comes down to whether someone else is willing to buy high and what that entails. My friend Jackie Moore pointed out Seager had changed his approach recently. Without seeing the at-bats for myself I don't feel comfortable saying the tweaks will help him produce more power than expected.

If someone values Seager like he's prime A-Rod or anything of the sort then pull the trigger. My guess is nobody will overvalue him to that degree. (R.J. Anderson)
2013-03-26 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat! Could you rank these following players on chances of a breakout season: Kyle Seager, Brandon Belt, Todd Frazier, Ben Revere, Matt Harvey, and Mike Moustakas?
(Derek from Kansas City)
Harvey
Belt
Moustakas
Revere
Seager
Frazier (Zachary Levine)
2013-03-21 13:00:00 (link to chat)What do you make of Kyle Seager this year? I'm thinking of pursuing him somewhat aggressively in auctions due to his dual 2B/3B eligibility.
(Matt from LA)
One of my favorite late-round pickups in drafts where I need infield depth, because of his contributions in HR and SB. I just wish he could improve his batting average a bit. (Daniel Rathman)
2013-02-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat! Pick your breakout candidate this year out of the following: Todd Frazier, Brandon Belt, Mike Moustakas, and Kyle Seager.
(Derek from KC)
I like this question. I feel like Frazier and Belt are closest to their ceilings; Belt, especially, has some fundamental mechanical stuff to address if he ever wants to reach his power ceiling. I like the little power boost Seager displayed last year, but I can't help but feel like Moose is the only superstar in the bunch. Yeah, he's scuffled some the past two years, but he's going to be 24 for the entire '13 season. He's still CRAZY young. Gotta go with him. And even if he doesn't figure it out this year, he'll definitely be the guy over the long haul. (Ian Miller)
2013-01-22 13:00:00 (link to chat)Thanks for the chat! In my keeper league I kept Mike Moustakas, Todd Frazier, Brandon Belt, and Kyle Seager. Smart move?
(Derek from Kansas City)
Derek, it depends on the opportunity cost. I can see reasons for keeping all four of those players in a vacuum, but we both know that's not how this thing works. (R.J. Anderson)
2012-10-04 14:00:00 (link to chat)Mariners fire another hitting coach, does this acutally do anything or is it just a way of scapegoating another crappy season?
(Ed W from Washington State)
It's scapegoating, mostly, but I think in this case the Mariners are also looking for a bit of a fresh start. As was reported several days ago, they are moving in the outfield walls at Safeco, which should both help the hitters already on their roster and perhaps attract more free agents to Seattle. But one thing getting a new hitting coach now does, is when hitters like Justin Smoak and Kyle Seager begin to post better overall numbers, the organization will be able to spin it as the new hitting coach making a difference. (Daniel Rathman)
2012-07-03 14:00:00 (link to chat)Lots of beer and chicks here, but that aside, I have Daniel Murphy clogging up my 3B spot. Who's a sneaky pick to grab off the wire the rest of the way? I'm thinking Pacheco, Frazier or guys of that ilk.
(Frank from ASU party)
First, party in the middle of the day? Impressive. Second, sneaking away from it to talk fantasy baseball? Even more impressive.

Yeah, guys like that work. Chris Nelson has 3B eligibiity and could be a good pick in that vein. Kyle Seager has a nice blend of skills. Juan Francisco's power would be quite valuable if Chipper Jones ends up with a more-than-nagging injury. I'm hearing good things about this guy named Will Middlebrooks too. Oh, he doesn't count? Nevermind... (Derek Carty)
2011-12-02 14:00:00 (link to chat)What would you estimate for the number of times out of 100 the threesome of Dee Gordon, Jemile Weeks, and Jose Altuve has more productive careers than the threesome of Ruben Tejada, Johnny Giavotella, and Kyle Seager?
(goiter6 from MN)
98. (Kevin Goldstein)
