2013 Acquired from the Cubs in December 2011, LeMahieu started the season at Triple-A before joining the big club toward the end of May. The former second-round pick out of Louisiana State floundered in a reserve role, returned to the minors for a month, then was recalled for good on July 17. Shortly thereafter he became the Rockies' everyday second baseman, where he produced at the plate and played solid defense. LeMahieu's minor-league track record is spotty, but he responded well to regular playing time and could be useful as a stopgap solution at second or eventually in a utility role.
2012 Another Cubs draft disappointment, LeMahieu lacks the power of a starting third baseman or the range of a middle infielder. His hitting tool is as good as advertised, and his inside-out swing kept his contact rate in the excellent range as he shot up through the levels in the Chicago system. The glass half full outlook is that he's big enough and young enough to grow into some power while retaining his contact rate, and he has decent athletic ability, even if he's not a burner on the basepaths or a particularly mobile fielder. In moving to Colorado, LeMahieu gains the advantages of playing half his games at Coors Field and replacing a slew of third baseman who hit like Jose Molina, the most prominent being the now-departed Ty Wigginton, who covers as much ground as the middle Molina brother.
2011 The Cubs' latest Cajun infielder out of LSU, LeMahieu has fine contact-hitting skills, but he struggled to do much beyond thwacking singles, keeping his ceiling low. Admittedly, his campaign at Daytona was his full-season debut, but balanced against the hope that he might deliver more power is the concern over what he'll do hitting toward better infielders at higher levels. He's already a double-play risk and not gifted with much speed, and absent any patience, his bat will only profile at second. His poor range at short is already pushing him in that direction.
2010 The Cubs enjoy middle infielders with a little Cajun spice, and LSUs D.J. LeMahieu certainly fits the bill, but in an organization rife with middle infield prospects, hell need to show the power his 64 frame promises to really stand out.

DJ LeMahieu, Marwin Gonzalez, Brian Dozier Jordy Mercer,. Thank you for the time you put into this. As of now I have Doizer at 2nd and Mercer at SS with Jose Reyes.

Woof.

Dozier, Marwin, DJ, Jordy. (Mauricio Rubio)
2013-02-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Any of these hitters worth a flyer in an NL only standard 4x4 league? DJ LeMahieu, Adeiny Hechavarria, or Jordany Valdespin.
(Johnny T from The Hills)
All three are worth fliers, we're talking NL-only. Valdespin probably has the highest ceiling if he can get playing time because of the HR/SB combo. Hechavarria should play, but yawn on the stats. (Mike Gianella)
