2014 Due to publishing agreements, the 2014 player comments and team essays are only available in the Baseball Prospectus 2014 book (available in hardcopy, e-book, and Kindle).
2013 Schafer arrived in Milwaukee last September sporting the complete fourth-outfielder accessory kit—lefty bat, contact-oriented approach, gap power, and enough range to play a credible center field—and managed to impress the big club enough to earn a long look this spring. A former third-round pick, Schafer is more well-rounded than toolsy, and his first full season in Triple-A did nothing to make us think he’s primed for a breakout. Nevertheless, true center fielders who don’t let major-league pitchers knock the bat out of their hands and aren’t useless against lefties can make a place for themselves, something Schafer will soon get a chance to do.
2012 Schafer isn't the sort of prospect who gets scouts buzzing. He's not considered to have any standout tools, but he's made remarkable progress considering he was drafted in 2008 and missed almost all of 2010 with various injuries. He makes consistent hard contact and laces line drives all over the field against right-handed pitching, and he has enough speed to handle center field and not be a liability on the bases. He'll get to work on improving the .227/.269/.402 batting line he posted against left-handed pitching in Triple A, but he's already near the point of being able to replace Morgan's role as a platoon center fielder, if required.
2010 The Brewers’ Minor League Player of the Year, Schafer is a speedy center fielder who showed off consistent gap power and a knack for making contact during his full-season debut. While none of his tools are outstanding, he’s a well-rounded player who hangs in well against lefties and has some additional power potential. He’ll likely make the jump to Double-A this year, and if some of those doubles start leaving the yard he could make a rapid climb up the prospect boards.

(adambennett from The Batcave)
The Crew is feeling the hangover from last year’s playoff push, and too many injuries makes it clear they won’t be in the playoff picture. So I’d sell, just like they’re getting ready to do now. Zack Greinke is a great trading chip, and I’d move Aramis Ramirez and maybe Corey Hart if I had to—if anyone wants Randy Wolf or K-Rod, I’d trade them as well. Also not a Carlos Gomez fan; I’ve been hoping they’d dump him for years. They need to restock their farm system with some position prospects to make up for last year’s fire sale and give a look to Logan Schafer and Taylor Green. They can be competitive again once the team’s healthy, so there’s no need to dump everyone, but they need to face reality and get ready for 2013. (Michael Street)
