DateQuestionAnswer
2014-08-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)What percentage of the distain your TINO cohosts direct towards you is genuine? What event/comment started it? Also: Can Charlie Blackmon be a decent Victorino-esque player next year and beyond? (.270/90 runs/15 hr/20 steals?)
(Old Bay-American from MD)
Have you ever interacted with me on twitter? I think that's what did it. I'd say about 12% is genuine, and I probably deserve about 85% of it. I think that's a really reasonable goal you've set for Blackmon. Good job sir. (Craig Goldstein)
2014-06-13 13:00:00 (link to chat)Last chat someone talked about trading Teheran for Verlander. Despite Teheran in Colorado during his last start, he's still outperforming Verlander substantially...because everyone is outperforming Verlander. I own Verlander in several leagues. Panic level 10. I've been offered players like Charlie Blackmon for him, whom I'm hesitant to "buy high" on, but is this even a "sell-low" situation? Has the bottom fallen out on Verlander?
(Steve from Los Angeles)
It's not good, but I'm not sure I'd just sell low, either. Blackmon is still producing in the counting categories even as his OPS has waned since April, but the Rockies as a whole are just flailing. At this point, you really have to let your standing dictate who you can reasonably take for Verlander. You won't get anywhere near top dollar, so if you want to sell, you have to be prepared to take a return you NEVER though you'd take back in April. (Paul Sporer)
2014-05-29 19:30:00 (link to chat)Rest of Season: Seth Smith or Charlie Blackmon?
(50 Cent from 40 yards south of home plate)
Blackmon based on park and playing time alone. He'll slow down, but he's a legit MLB starter. Nice throw btw. (Ben Carsley)
2014-04-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Is Charlie Blackmon really bout this life?
(Reid from Hotels.com)
Answered this earlier. He's a legitimate contact hitter. He's just not a .400 threat. (R.J. Anderson)
2014-04-29 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hitting .400 is a pipe dream for almost anyone over a full season, but is Charlie Blackmon capable of hitting for a high average in the long run?
(Alex from Anaheim)
If we're talking .300-plus? Then yes. He gets to play half his games at Coors Field, which is always a positive, and he makes a ton of contact. Plus his middle name is Cobb. (R.J. Anderson)
2014-04-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Charlie Blackmon - lucky bounces? Sample size illusion? Swing adjustment? Finally getting a full-time chance? I told a league-mate I basically viewed him as Johnny Damon Part Two and got a weird look.
(Craig M from Fargo ND)
Anytime you're hitting .410, you're getting some lucky bounces. Blackmon was a worthy prospect, not a blue-chipper or anything, but definitely someone who projected to be a major leaguer. Plays for a great offense in a great park (1423 OPS at home). I think he can be a .270 hitter with like 13-15 HR and 25+ SBs. (Paul Sporer)
2014-04-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)"I just disagree with the notion that anyone with his pedigree and talent is a sunk cost 3 weeks into the season. You can still recoup that value... quite easily, in fact." I agree 100%! He is in fact not a sunk cost. What was paid for him, however, is and should not be a factor in the decision about whether to hold on to him or not.
(ng from nyc)
Yes it should. It absolutely should at this time in the season. As we get deeper into the season, draft day costs fades and eventually becomes meaningless. But not in week 3. I'm not dealing some struggling 4th-5th rounder for Charlie Blackmon right now. If you want to, you're free to, but I think that's foolhardy. (Paul Sporer)
2014-04-09 19:00:00 (link to chat)que pasa? 12 tm H2H categories 6X6 (hlds & OPS) keeper. at $1 each; Owings, Colabello, Blackmon, and Semien. Who will I drop first who will be on my team all year and who will I sign to a 3 year contract?
(Julio from San Antonio)
Que pasa compa, Charlie Blackmon is the guy I think you’re cutting first and I think you’ll have a very happy life with Chris Owings. He's growing on me in a very positive way and I think he might be able to contribute across all 5 offensive categories. (Mauricio Rubio)
2013-12-17 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who do you think wins the spring battle between Charlie Blackmon and Corey Dickerson?
(Nick from Vegas)
I've never been so torn in my life. (Jason Parks)
2012-01-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Does Dexter Fowler stay in the majors and in Jim Tracy's starting lineup all year long? Do you see him as a breakout candidate this year?
(Peter from Westtown)
It's hard to say if he stays in it all year, since they seem to keep him on a short leash, and Charlie Blackmon will still be kicking around in the background, but I do think Fowler has what it takes to hit .260 or .270 while OBPing .350 and stealing 30 bases. Whether that will be enough for the Rockies to keep him in centerfield and leading off, we'll have to see, but I'd like to that he will play well and be kept around. (Derek Carty)
2011-06-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)Given their abundance of outfielders, any chance the Rockies give Charlie Blackmon a look before September?
(Brady from Florida)
If Dexter Fowler’s struggles continue, there’s definitely a chance we see Blackmon starting in the Rockies OF within a couple months. (Derek Carty)
