2010-03-17 14:00:00Hi Christina, I look at Oakland's line-up without anyone I'd like on my fantasy team and can't understand how Pecota has them playing 500 ball. What are your thoughts on the A's?
(lennyd from Portland)
Either you don't have a lot of teams in your league, or you're very picky, or maybe you have no use for steals; while I'm not wild about an outfield with Coco Crisp and Rajai Davis in it as everyday players, they will snag bags. For pitching, whether you're in a keeper league or not, just go grab Brett Anderson. Like steals, saves are a commodity you should want, and Andrew Bailey's the real deal. Position-related supply/demand issues might encourage you to snag Kurt Suzuki or Mark Ellis. Basically, it's going to be a better real-world ballclub than a generator of traditional category fantasy stars. (Christina Kahrl)
2009-10-06 13:30:00Elvis Andrus has been worth 2.9 WAR while anchoring a Ranger defense that completely transformed. How do you put Andrew Bailey (2.4 WAR) ahead of him in the ALROY race?
(Conjunction from Dallas)
The great thing about the rookie classes in both leagues is that you can go a number of different ways with your picks. I like Andrus a lot and I know I certainly left myself open for criticism by not selecting him. However, I thought Bailey was outstanding all year in a role that many veterans have a difficult time handling. It's an interesting debate, which is one of the reasons we all love baseball so much. (John Perrotto)
2009-09-29 13:00:00With the CYA (Greinke) and the MVP (Mauer) awards pretty well settled who do you have for RoY??
(kcboomer from kc)
I'm sort of ambivalent. I imagine it will be Gordon Beckham, but I feel like you could make just as good a case for Andrew Bailey or Jeff Neimann. Nolan Reimold had a good year too, and I'm sure that some people will claim that Elvis Andrus helped the Rangers accomplish... accomplish... Oh, never mind. (Steven Goldman)
2009-09-07 13:00:00Andrew Bailey for ROY?
(Drew W from NoVA)
It's going to be a bit of a goofy class in the AL, ain't it? Bailey's got a few things going for him, but so do a few others. (Christina Kahrl)
2009-08-25 13:00:00Elvis Andrus, Gordon Beckham, Nolan Reimold, maybe Rickey Romero, or Andrew Bailey...who you got as AL RoY?
(Lincoln from Dallas)
Beckham, who just recently passed Andrus. It's very close.

I really like Gordon Beckham. He could win an MVP as a shortstop. (Joe Sheehan)
2009-05-18 14:00:00Does Andrew Bailey or Scott Downs have the skills to hold down end-game duties, or will their closer jobs ultimately settle with more talented pitchers?
(cjkrawczyk from Milwaukee)
I'm one of those people who thinks either have the talent, because while I'd agree with the comment that some people can *not* close (a nation turns its eyes to Ron Davis), there are many who can, with or without fun facial hair or choice theme music. (Christina Kahrl)
