2011-06-29 13:30:00Who are your favorite players to deal with, both past or present?
(Gerald from Savannah)
Geez. That's a tough one because there are so many good guys I have dealt with in 24 years of covering baseball. I hate to leave people out but some of my favorites would have to include Sean Casey, John Burkett, Jay Bell, Craig Wilson, Jason Schmidt, Michael Barrett from the past. From the present: Jason Bay, Cole Hamels, Carlos Pena, Scott Rolen, Brandon Phillips, Nyjer Morgan, Neil Walker, Joel Hanrahan, Adam Jones, Max Scherzer, Don Kelly, Chris Perez, Adam Dunn, Matt Capps, Torii Hunter, Kurt Suzuki, Ian Kinsler. (John Perrotto)
2010-07-09 13:00:00Does Chris Perez have the goods to be a solid Closer in the years (months) ahead for the Indians?
(Tony from Boston, MA)
I don't think he'll be as frustrating as Kerry Wood has been, but he's not an elite option for the position. He will however pick up saves, and if that's what you need, he should deliver. (Marc Normandin)
2010-05-05 13:00:00How much would it cost for someone to build me a time machine, then I send my Dad back in time to NOT take the job at the Akron Beacon Journal, and then I don't grow up in Akron and don't become a Cleveland fan and then I don't feel like hopping on a plane, flying to Cleveland, and doing something ill-advised to the entire Indians roster (shaving Chris Perez' head, tying Luis Valbuena in a sack, turning Russ Branyan into a newt, etc.)? This is feasible, right? My spleen ... my spleen is weeping inconsolably. I used to love my spleen. I feel like a bad caretaker.
(buffum from Austin TX)
You actually just won the Internet. The whole thing. (Marc Normandin)
2009-05-04 14:00:00Is there a decent chance Ryan Franklin stays Cardinals closer the whole year? If not him, is Chris Perez and not Motte the likely top candidate?
(Rob from Dallas, TX)
I rank the Cards' relievers Perez, McClellan, Motte, Kinney, Franklin. I don't know that any of them will hold the closer's job long enough to be fantasy-viable. Franklin looks like last year's George Sherrill to me. (Joe Sheehan)
