2013 Following a breakout year in the Southern League, Silverio ranked seventh on our Dodgers prospect list and figured to get at least a major-league look in 2012, but his season was a nightmare and he never made it into a game. A January car accident in the Dominican Republic left him with a concussion as well as neck, elbow, and shoulder injuries;. Post-concussion symptoms as well as Tommy John surgery on his throwing elbow kept him on the shelf all year. When healthy, Silverio has an impressive collection of tools, but despite his raw speed, he's not a good baserunner, and his defensive skills profile better in right field than center. The Marlins plucked him in the Rule 5 draft, and he has a chance to stick in the majors if he can top Coghlan, Hernandez, and Petersen for a reserve outfielder role.
2012 This toolsy, athletic Dominican enjoyed a breakout year in Chattanooga, leading the league in triples and total bases while ranking fourth in slugging percentage. He turned heads in the Futures Game with a homer off Drew Pomeranz as well. Silverio's aggressive approach doesn't result in many walks, but he has good pitch-recognition skills and doesn't chase many bad pitches out of the strike zone. With 18 triples, he's obviously got the speed to steal bases, but his sub-50 percent success rate suggests he has much to learn about reading pitchers. Scouts are split on his ability to stick in center.
