BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2008 After tying for the minor league lead with 17 wins in 2006, finesse righty Jason Windsor made ten disappointing starts at Triple-A last year before undergoing shoulder surgery.
2007 Windsor`s stuff has been described as `fringe-average,` a term that doesn`t seem particularly specific but doesn`t exactly suggest future greatness. Nevertheless, his stats have been fine and he reached the majors just a bit more than two years after the A`s drafted him. He was on a short leash, and returned to Sacramento after a couple of July starts. He did get another quick shot in September, but struggled again. Windsor earned some goodwill with that 13-1 record in the PCL, and he`s got a good a chance to overtake Kirk Saarloos as the team`s shaky-but-cheap swingman.

2009-02-16 14:00:00 (link to chat)Reading your 'yarn' above about Rice; are there schools out there that are historically brutal on their pitchers and have a track record of their prospects peaking in college due to workload?
(Gavin from Prairie Village, KS)
I actually think a lot of school, including Rice themselves have learned from some mistakes in the past, and you don't so guys get just downright ABUSED (we're looking at you Ben McDonald and Jason Windsor) as much as they used to. By the way, every time I spin that Rice tale, I hear from their alum, and not in a happy way. (Kevin Goldstein)
