2008 Just 23 years old, Carvajal has been the property of seven different organizations, including the Brewers for just a few hours and, since September 12, the Marlins, who claimed him when the Mets waived him. The Mets' attempt to make him a starter didn't go very well, so look for him to return to the bullpen this year. He throws hard and is young enough to still have considerable potential.
2007 Designated for assignment by Seattle right before the season began, Carvajal was snapped up by Tampa and enjoyed a solid year in Montgomery. Despite not getting the call all year during the D-Rays open auditions for their bullpen spots, Carvajal has both `success as a Rule 5 pick` and `can pitch in Coors Field` on his resume. He should be in the bullpen mix in 2007.
2006 Taken by the Brewers in the 2004 Rule 5 draft, the Rockies bought Carvajal for $75,000 and stuck the kid with all of three innings above A-ball in their pen. Surprisingly, he wasn`t that bad. Carvajal works with a mid-90s fastball that sometimes gets up to 98, and while his breaking pitches need work, he was a surprising steal and a credit to the Rockies scouting staff. Dealt to Seattle, where his prospects, like any ex-Rockie pitcher`s, improve.
2005 Dominated the Sally League with very live stuff at the age of 19. He'll start the year at high-A, but he's got a long way to go, especially as he battles the injury concerns so prevalent with precocious arms. He throws hard, which is why the Brewers picked him up in the Rule 5 Draft, and sold him to the Rockies. So you might well get a chance to see him doing mop-up duties in Coors Field. And with the Rockies, that could be 350 innings of work.
