BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2010 Groundballer Roy Corcoran had a decent year for the Mariners in 2008, but he struggled last year, and didn't exactly light up the PCL when the Astros put him in Round Rock.
2009 Corcoran is the ultimate overachiever, a little guy who went undrafted following his career at Louisiana State, and labored in a chemical plant until the Expos beckoned him to the exciting existence of a veteran minor leaguer. Ultimately, Corcoran broke through to the highest level, and thus far, he's continued to defy expectations by retaining his roster spot in spite of a 1.06 career strikeout-to-walk ratio. His astronomical ground ball rates allow him to survive a certain amount of tight-rope walking, but his next 70 major league innings—assuming he has that many left in him—likely won't be so pretty.
2005 A righty reliever with a good performance record heading into 2004, Corcoran gave up a lot of walks, snuffing out his shot at a promotion. The low home-run rates are intriguing, and PECOTA thinks he'll do fine if given a shot. Nevertheless, designated for assignment by new management.
