2010 Slugger Andy Tracy mashed yet again in his ninth Triple-A season as the junior varsity's edition of Matt Stairs.
2009 We suspect that Andy Tracy hasn't been hanging around this long just to achieve the honor of being an inaugural IronPig, but he did deliver the team's first-ever run, RBI, and home run in his first at-bat.
2005 Is he good enough to be a Ken Phelps All-Star? Tracy's better than some starting third basemen, and the Rockies have signed him to hang around and possibly replace Mark Sweeney. If he gets the playing time, he could put up some big numbers in XBH and Ks, so you know we love him. Something in the .275/.350/.500 range is probably a pretty good guess in Coors, though small sample size caveats apply.

2009-11-24 13:00:00 (link to chat)Does Jack Cust make any sense for the Mets? What would be Oakland's asking price, maybe Daniel Murphy in a straight swap?
(Robin from NJ)
I have no idea why the Mets would want Jack Cust. He can't play the outfield, the NL doesn't have a DH, and unless they were going to use him in a Matt Stairs with the Phillies type of role, it makes no sense. And even if they did want him to be their Stairs, there are plenty of freely available guys like Andy Tracy who could do the same thing without expensing much. (Eric Seidman)

2009-10-21 17:00:00NLCS Game 5Miguel Cairo, the horror. I mean, really, with nobody aboard? And with his "ability" to reach base? I know a burn-worthy PH has his place, but this strikes me as another reminder that, when you play in a bandbox, best to find someone who has an instrument. Andy Tracy > Miguel Cairo.
