BP Annual Player Comments

YearComment
2007 At this point it`s safe to say that the story of Roberto Petagine`s career in the U.S. was that he was repeatedly picked up by franchises that then found absolutely no use for him--at 36, he`s likely done.
2006 Signed by the Red Sox in February, a knee injury in March could not have come at a worse time, as it led to the club signing John Olerud. That meant Petagine was stuck in Pawtucket for most of the season. Millar`s general ineptitude cried out for a replacement, but Francona did not see fit to give a role to Petagine no matter how well he hit in Triple-A. Analysts have long championed Petagine as a player never given the shot he deserved, but that battle has long since been lost and it`s time to find a new cause.

Wow, that's a great list, though there's a difference between not producing and never getting the chance to produce. I can't add to it other than to add my own personal nemesis: Chad Orvella, who I drafted based on PECOTA's unabashed, notes in the lunchroom crush on him. That didn't turn out well. (Ken Funck)
