2003 Brock missed two months with an inflamed right shoulder. When he did pitch, he was close to an all-or-nothing pitcher, either shutting out the side completely or giving up 34 runs at a time. Strictly filler for the back of a bullpen, hes a bad month away from retirement, and not really a good use of a 40-man roster spot in an organization that has to keep Albert Belle every winter.
2001 After a very shaky period as a starter, Chris Brock moved to the bullpen and became one of the Phillies' few effective relievers. He probably has a few years as a serviceable middle or short reliever, but the Phillies should not be afraid to cut him loose if he becomes ineffective or expensive.
2000 Brock began the 1999 season well for the Giants, then lost five of six decisions and saw his ERA rise by almost two runs in June and July before his season ended due to a torn knee ligament. Its hard to know what to make of his future; he has been effective at times, but is 30 years old and coming off an injury, with not much more than Minor League Journeyman written across his jersey. He was traded to the Phillies for Bobby Estalella, his signature contribution to the Giants franchise.
1999 Brock has gotten some attention as a young starter out of the Atlanta system. He seems to have recovered from earlier injury problems, and his control was as good last season as it has ever been. Brock isn't young, so his future would appear to be in long relief.
1998 Brock was given a crack at the fifth starter job when Terrell Wade went down and was ineffective. His association with the Braves may rub off and afford him chances he may not deserve in other organizations. No extended success in his future.
