2017-08-28 13:00:00 (link to chat)hello.... what would you expect nick senzels numbers when he arrives in the majors as his doubles start going yard?
(easterbrook from ontario canada)
Good question. I find these kinds of players -- Bryants and Brendan Rodgers -- totally fascinating and fun to project. Big guys who are already strong and only project to get stronger. But I'm also not especially good at guessing.

My guess is that Senzel will always give away some power due to his solid-maybe-elite hit tool that'll help him settle for some singles and doubles situationally. Call it 280/350/500 as a ceiling with some freakish power years here and there. (Trevor Strunk)
2017-08-28 13:00:00 (link to chat)Can you name some of the big names you expect to be called up when rosters expand? Anybody you're looking forward to seeing?
(Paddy from Ireland )
As a Phillies fan, I'm kind of excited to see what JP Crawford can do, if anything at all. Brent Honeywell, for the Rays, is going to be interesting too (if they decide to pull the trigger, and that's no sure thing in Tampa Bay). A lot of my favorite guys -- Moncada, Giolito, Rhys Hoskins, et al -- have already been called up before rosters expand, so this is a tough one for me.

I hope some team does a hyper-aggressive promotion, like Nick Gordon or Brendan Rodgers or something. (Trevor Strunk)
2017-07-25 20:00:00 (link to chat)Fernando Tatis Jr - top SS prospect in 2 years?
(Eric from TX)
He's definitely in the discussion. I think it depends on the status of Amed Rosario, Brendan Rodgers and Bo Bichette.
-Nathan (Emmett Rosenbaum & Nathan Graham)
2017-07-13 14:00:00 (link to chat)Now with Quintana traded it's only a matter of time before they line up for Sonny Gray. Thoughts on Gray going to Milwaukee for a package headlined by Brinson or Colorado for a package starting with Tapia ?
(Ernie from San Diego)
I think the Quintana deal definitely helps the A's, as it's one less piece on the board. I think Gray to Milwaukee is interesting, but I'm not sure they'd be willing to give up enough to get him, as they're still *technically* rebuilding. I don't think Tapia would be enough in Colorado, but if they offered Brendan Rodgers, the A's would definitely listen. Ultimately, I think the Astros have been circling Gray for awhile, so I would guess that's where he ends up. (Mark Barry)
2017-06-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Top 3 SS prospects in 2019 will be?
(John from Columbus)
Brendan Rodgers, Bo Bichette, and Fernando Tatis (Jarrett Seidler)
2017-06-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)Top 5 prospects in 2019?
(Adam from NJ)
Brendan Rodgers, Eloy Jimenez, Sixto Sanchez, Juan Soto, Vlad Jr. (Jarrett Seidler)
2017-05-15 17:00:00 (link to chat)Who do you like long term, Albies or Brendan Rodgers? Both future second baseman debuting in 2018?
(Mike from California )
Rodgers.

Albies will be up in 2018 for sure. Rodgers could be, but given that he hasn't even set foot in the high minors yet, 2019 might be a more reasonable guess. (Mike Gianella)
2017-05-25 13:00:00 (link to chat)Top SS prospect in 3 years is?
(Ryan from Chicago)
As a reminder, if you ask a question I don't the answer to I'll go find an answer:

Jeff Paternostro: "Someone not signed/drafted yet."

Craig Goldstein: "Maybe Brendan Rodgers." "Kevin Maitan if he's still at the position." (Eric Roseberry)
2017-04-05 23:00:00 (link to chat)How do you see the Rockies infield situation playing out once Brendan Rodgers arrives? Assuming D.J leaves for free agency, would the Rockies move Rodgers or Story to 2B?
(Mike from Dover AFB)
I'll be in a much better position to answer this in a few days after I put eyes on Rodgers' glove for the first time over the weekend. Story's leather has always scouted pretty well, though at least according to FRAA it didn't translate great numbers-wise last year, so we'll have to wait and see. Rodgers likely isn't legitimately in the mix until 2019, though, so this is not an immediate problem. (Wilson Karaman)
2017-03-23 20:00:00 (link to chat)Who are the top 5 prospects in 2018? Who are the top 5 prospects in 2019?
(Cubs Fan 69 from Illinois)
The correct answer is I have no idea. But this is fun. Let's say 2018: Victor Robles, Eloy Jimenez, Brendan Rodgers, Gleyber Torres, and Nick Senzel. 2019: Robles, Anderson Espinoza, Acuna, Michael Kopech, and Anderson Tejada. (Mark Barry)
2017-03-30 20:00:00 (link to chat)Would you rather have Dansby Swanson now, or Brendan Rodgers in your minors with Jean Segura as your interim SS in a keep forever dynasty format?
(Mike from Dover AFB)
I'd prefer Segura and Rodgers to Swanson, mostly because it seems like I'm higher on Segura than most. I think Segura is a decent bet to out-perform Swanson this year. If that happens, is it fair to call him your interim SS? He earned $30+ in NL-only leagues last year. (Scooter Hotz)
2016-11-22 20:00:00 (link to chat)What a fall for Gleyber Torres. Where does he rank among SS prospects?
(Reggie from AZ)
Not quite 101 time yet, but off the top of my head, probably fourth or fifth. In no real order, there's the Crawford, Rosario, Swanson trio out of the NL East likely still ahead of him, and they all should stay at short. Next tier, there's probably Torres and Brendan Rodgers? Am I missing anyone? (Jarrett Seidler)
2016-11-22 20:00:00 (link to chat)Think Juan Soto could become the best low minors hitter next year if he starts in full season ball?
(Mike from NY)
Sure, because if someone like Eloy Jimenez or Brendan Rodgers is in contention for this they're not going to be in the low-minors for long. Soto probably won't make it out of A-ball no matter what he does. (Jarrett Seidler)
2016-11-22 20:00:00 (link to chat)What are your thoughts on Aneury Tavares. Any chance he gets taken in the Rule 5 draft and has a shot to stick? Do you think you'll get to see Brendan Rodgers in AA next season? Who are you most looking forward to seeing in the league?
(AJ from Ottawa)
I think I saw him approximately four or five times this year and I still had to just look it up to make sure I was thinking of the right short dude with the odd-looking swing. That probably says it all, honestly. I don't expect him to taken, but stranger things have happened.

I sure hope Rodgers makes Double-A, but I mean, my home park of Trenton alone rates to have Gleyber Torres, James Kaprelian, Jorge Mateo, and perhaps Albert Abreu. The EL is gonna be loaded next year. (Jarrett Seidler)
2016-11-22 20:00:00 (link to chat)which SS prospect has the highest ceiling?
(JT from cali)
I think the answer is probably Brendan Rodgers if we're talking absolute ceiling, but he's also by far the least likely of the top five or so guys to actually make it. (Jarrett Seidler)
2016-08-05 13:00:00 (link to chat)#1 Prospect in 2018, 2019, 2020?
(Mike from MN)
For entertainment purposes only

18: Victor Robles
19: Brendan Rodgers
20: Kevin Maitan (Jeffrey Paternostro)
2016-08-18 13:00:00 (link to chat)How good is Amed Rosario? Can he be an impact regular/4+ WAR guy?
(Greggy from NC)
Without question. His upside competes with any shortstop in the minor leagues right now not named Brendan Rodgers (Yes, JP Crawford is the best shortstop prospect, but that's mainly because his floor is just stupid high). Gotta give it time and there's some volatility here, but without question he has that in him. (Christopher Crawford)
2016-08-15 22:00:00 (link to chat)Where would Eloy Jimenez rank in the Brendan Rodgers, Victor Robles, Crawford question?
(Scott from Nyc)
I'd put him behind those three but ahead of the two outfielders, with the asterisk that I might be light, that dude's a beast in the making. (Wilson Karaman)
2016-07-05 19:00:00 (link to chat)Brendan Rodgers or Yoan Moncada? Pick one and why?
(Jason from FL)
They're both top prospects, but I haven't seen either one so it's difficult for me to answer, sorry! (Kate Morrison)
2016-06-16 21:00:00 (link to chat)#1 prospect in 2017? 2018?
(Brent from ATL)
#1 prospect in 2017 is Yoan Moncada. #1 prospect in 2018 is Brendan Rodgers. (Bret Sayre)
2016-05-17 14:00:00 (link to chat)Dynasty League fantasy draft, Byron Buxton or Brendan Rodgers?
(Kyle from Florida)
I am legally required to tell you to draft the (theoretical) five-tool center fielder that's already been in the big leagues over the A-ball shortstop, as I'm pretty sure both Craig and Mike will murder me in my sleep if I don't. That's not to discredit Rogers, but Buxton is Buxton and it's far too early to press the big red button on him. (Nicolas Stellini)
2016-05-31 19:00:00 (link to chat)What type of future does Brendan Rodgers have? Can he really be a 30 home run bat at Coors field that possibly moves to 2B because of Trevor Story?
(Yuri from CA)
Brendan Rodgers is an impact talent but the Rockies have significant time before they have to worry about moving him to second because of Trevor Story. That being said Rodgers will be a first-division regular at the ML level. The bat has a chance to be special with plenty of power and in Coors 30 homers is definitely possible. In the field, he has plenty of arm at short but the question will be how the feet play and how the body fills out. There were plenty of scouts talking about 3B down the road when he was in HS. (James Fisher)
2016-05-31 19:00:00 (link to chat)Brendan Rodgers has been playing 2B quite a bit this year. With Arenado and Story on the left, are they already moving Rodgers?
(Jim from Denver)
Good point Jim, I must admit that I didn't know just how much 2B he has been playing this year. Based on that, the Rockies must have evaluated him as a 2B coming out with a well above-average bat. (James Fisher)
2016-05-31 19:00:00 (link to chat)Well if Brendan Rodgers is indeed playing more 2B which bat do you like better as a future 2B, him or Moncada?
(Jake from State Farm)
Give me Yoan Moncada if he stays long-term at 2B. (James Fisher)
2016-04-21 19:00:00 (link to chat)An 15 team OPS league with 8 keeper farm spots per- do you prefer David Dahl or Brendan Rodgers?

Lean Rodgers because of the position. (Mike Gianella)
2016-03-02 13:00:00 (link to chat)In a SABR-based league that also values defense. CBA is followed, so 3 years at peanuts then arb sets in. I have the first pick in the minor league draft and am torn between Dansby Swanson and Brendan Rodgers. I am probably set at SS for a few years, so Rodgers' distance from the show is not a huge deal to me. Staying at SS is. Would you go for Rodgers' upside in Coors or Swanson's overall game?
(DF from Wilmington, NC)
Oddly enough, I'm in a league with Bret Sayre and we just faced this same decision. We took Rodgers. (Harry Pavlidis)
2016-03-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Bret Sayre thinks that Ian Happ could be the best overall fantasy prospect in this past draft.. Do you take him over Brendan Rodgers?
(Ron from Texarkana)
If - IF - he can stick at SS that's a possibility, yeah. Bret's got Rodgers' name tattooed on his shoulder blade (it's really quality work, + shading, ++ script, solid-average heart around it), so I'm semi-surprised he went there. But they're both really good hitters. I'd still take Rodgers without a second thought. (Wilson Karaman)
2016-03-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)Really like BP chats the best out of all the options on the internet. Your guys are helpful without appearing to have a chip on the shoulder. Question: Please rank the following 6 players as my 1st pick in a minor league draft. I'll likely be able to choose from the following: Brinson, B Zimmer, Brendan Rodgers, Nick Williams, Benentendi, and Snell.
(Chris from Baltimore)
Thanks!

I would go

Rodgers
Zimmer
Brinson
Snell
Benintendi
Williams

There all great options, I just think Rodgers ability to play shortstop and chance for plus hit/power totals makes him the guy. (Christopher Crawford)
2016-01-27 19:00:00 (link to chat)If you could choose any 3 for a dynasty league who would you choose between Brendan Rodgers, AJ Reed, Bradley Zimmer, Victor Robles, Andrew Benintendi, Rafael Devers? Note the scorable categories are singles, doubles, triples, HR, RBI, runs, batting avg, OBP, SBs. 10 team only 50 minor league keepers total in the league, so general value ceiling over floor. Thanks!
(Rusty Greer from Texas)
Rodgers, Robles and Zimmer for me, with Devers right there as well. I could see Reed being swapped in if you want someone closer to the majors, too. But just based on upside I'd leave him out. (Matt Collins)
2016-01-20 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who are your top 3 prospects from last years draft and recent int'l signings?
(mbeemsterboer from Wisconsin)
From the draft it'd be Brendan Rodgers, Dansby Swanson and Dillon Tate. From the international signings it'd be Yadier Alvarez, Eddy Julio Martinez and Vlad Guerrero, Jr. (Christopher Crawford)
