2017-04-28 13:30:00 (link to chat)14 Team dynasty, 40 man roster. Someone dropped Trent Clark - should I drop any of the these dudes to get him: Luis Alexander Basabe, Anderson Tejeda, Lazarito, Bobby Dalbec? Really torn with Clark's slow start.
(Eric from LA)
I'd probably drop Dalbec for him but if you're into the boom/bust scenario I can see justifying it over a more moderate ceiling guy like Clark. (Craig Goldstein)
2017-03-23 20:00:00 (link to chat)What prospects are you looking to buy a bunch of pre-season stocks in this year so this time next year their stock will be drastically higher so you can say to everyone "Look I got in on the ground floor on ___"?
(Igor from At a Bar)
Ooohhh I like this question. I think Acuna or Cody Bellinger was probably the answer last season. I think Anderson Tejeda could shoot up prospect lists pretty quickly, but there's been some buzz on him already. Non-top 101 guys, I'd go Lucas Erceg, Greg Allen, or Luis Alexander Basabe. (Mark Barry)
2016-09-12 23:00:00 (link to chat)Seems Jason Martin is hitting two HR every other day. Just how much power could he hit for outside Lancaster? How do you compare him to the more highly touted Luis Alexander Basabe?
(Oliver from Boston)
A LOT of it is Lancaster. To his credit, Martin has really adapted to his environs and learned how to hunt pitches he can put up into the Antelope Valley atmosphere effectively, but he's not a power hitter longterm. I've enjoyed watching him as much as I have this year, and I think he's a big-league player - potentially a valuable one in a second-division/fourth outfielder kind of mold if he keeps developing in the right direction. I wouldn't rate him in the same ceiling conversation with Basabe, who I think can be an impact player, but he's been a steady dude with some across-the-board skill this year. Here's my report: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/eyewitness_bat.php?reportid=362

And just in case you didn't get that far in "Dub Revolution," here's the other king track from it, "Bush Weed": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJOxxlyo-yU (Wilson Karaman)
2016-06-27 20:00:00 (link to chat)What should we look out for of prospects who are young for their level? I.E. Eloy Jimenez is tearing the cover off the ball with Luis Alexander Basabe is struggling?
(Jerry from Earth)
My focus is the Midwest League so when you're looking at guys that are still in the early stages of their developmental curve are bat speed, the ability to recognize spin, and athleticism. If a prospect is struggling but still possesses those skills I would give them a decent chance to come out of it. (James Fisher)
2016-05-16 23:00:00 (link to chat)Mr. Karaman. As someone who hoped on the pre-season bandwagon of Eloy Jimenez & Luis Alexander Basabe what should we be looking for from them this season as seems mixed results as of now?
(Leonard from None of Your Business)
Progress noted in the scouting reports from the start of the season to the end, and at least some corresponding cues in the production, however minor. Both are relatively raw players playing 2+ years young for their level.

Halftime! I'll be back in a jiffy kids, mean time here's some mo' smoove grooves (the smoovest, in fact): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eLdSYF0WxyE (Wilson Karaman)
2016-05-12 13:00:00 (link to chat)Mr. Crawford. As someone who hoped on the pre-season bandwagon of Eloy Jimenez & Luis Alexander Basabe what should we be looking for from them this season as seems mixed results as of now?
(Leonard from None of Your Business)
Mixed results are going to happen all year, what I think you should be looking for is some semblance of consistency, particularly in the second half. Both these guys are extremely talented, and their upside suggests they can be impact players. It's just gonna take some time. (Christopher Crawford)
2016-05-18 19:00:00 (link to chat)Mr. Bissell. As someone who hoped on the pre-season bandwagon of Eloy Jimenez & Luis Alexander Basabe what should we be looking for from them this season as seems mixed results as of now?
(Leonard from None of Your Business)
Call me George. Mr. Bissell is my father. Literally, he's a high school teacher and everything. I wouldn't be concerned one bit about Basabe given his age and the league setting. He's going to be a dude as we like to say. (George Bissell)
2016-04-25 23:00:00 (link to chat)Mr. Karaman! Got 2 hitting prospects and pitchers wouldn't mind getting your opinion on: Eloy Jimenez & Luis Alexander Basabe; Franklyn Kilome & Junior Fernandez. If you could have only one of the hitters and pitchers in your system who would you choose and why?
(Leonard from None of Your Business)
Can I cheat and take Jimenez/Basabe? I wrote about both those guys recently as sweet ceiling guys, and given that all four of them are reasonably equivalent degrees of raw I'd want the two bats. Kilome's been a tire fire in his first three starts, but assuming he's okay (haven't seen any firsthand reports yet) I'd probably prefer him as the arm if you HAVE to do 1-1. (Wilson Karaman)
2016-04-14 20:00:00 (link to chat)Future fantasy value: Luis Alexander Basabe vs Christin Stewart
(Roto Scooter from Your Toilet)
Neither are on my radar, really. I'm not a dynasty guy, although I like non-dynasty keeper leagues. Unless your league is absurdly deep, these players probably shouldn't be rostered yet in non-dynasty leagues. (Scooter Hotz)
2016-03-04 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Wilson. Was wondering if I could get your opinion and knowledge on these 3 low minor prospects: Stone Garrett, Wuilmer Becerra, Luis Alexander Basabe. How would you rank them if they were in your system?
(Jerry from Earth)
Basabe is my boo, and I'd take him over just about any other short-season dude at this point. Wrote about him last week: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=28510

Garrett is an interesting power/speed guy who we got good reports on re: strides with approach in the NYPL last year. If you're diving into short-season guys he's on the list to be sure.

Becerra I'd have third on this list, ceiling's a little lower than the other two. You can get the goods on here: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=28523 (Wilson Karaman)
2016-03-03 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Chris. Was wondering if I could get your opinion on these 3 low minor prospects: Stone Garrett, Wuilmer Becerra, Luis Alexander Basabe. How would you rank them if they were in your system?
(Jerry from Earth)
I like all three. I'd go Basabe first, followed by Becerra and Garrett. Many in the industry prefer Garrett, and I may just be late on him. But Basabe to me has the highest probability and ceiling, so that's the call for me. (Christopher Crawford)
