(The minor league guy from Illinois)
|I liked Ball. Improved reports on Meadows at the complex league, but still dubious about long term outlook. He looks the part, but I had a lot of viewings throughout the twelve months leading up to the draft and he regularly underwhelmed. Certainly wouldn't pay the $500K or so extra it would have cost to land Meadows at same slot. Too bad they couldn't entice Ryan Boldt away from Nebraska... (Nick J. Faleris)|

(Chris P from Boston)
|They had a really nice draft, and I want to write on them more since it seems like I arrived at some similar conclusions as to draft strategy for this particular class. I know Ryan Boldt had a set number and a strong comfort level with Nebraska, but the Sox did an excellent job of putting themselves in a position to make a competitive run in case he changed his mind. Boldt was one of my favorites in the class, so I really hope the college route works out well for him. As a midwest-based evaluator, I am looking forward to seeing him in Big 10 action. (InfraRen from Minny)
|I think both would need to be tabbed pretty early today to give teams enough base slot allotment to work with in order to reach the money likely needed to buy them out from Nebraska and Arkansas, respectively. Tough spot for teams with Boldt, since they are working almost exclusively off of reports from last year.
Speaking for myself, I'd give either one first round money without too much concern, provided I had risk appropriately allocated otherwise with my other selections. (Nick Faleris on the MLB Draft)
|2013-06-07 10:30:00 (link to chat)||Few guys I'm interested in for Twins at 78: Chandler Eden, Jon Denney, Ryan Boldt - any of them likely fits? Any chance Boldt signs at this point?|
(@InfraRen from Minnesota)
|As a local product, Boldt could certainly be interesting. That would depend, however, on how much of the $4.5 MM in first round allotment the Twins will need to ink Stewart. See above for info on Eden and Denney. (Nick Faleris on the MLB Draft)|

(hoosier daddy from IN)
|Trey Ball (New Castle HS (Ind.)) is a two way standout that I like a little better in the outfield. He's incredibly talented and a surefire 1st rounder for me at this point. Still, I'd have Clint Frazier (Loganville HS (Ga.)) ahead of him, and you can make an argument for Austin Meadows (Grayson HS (Ga.)) as well. Ryan Boldt (Red Wing HS (Minn.)) is in the 1st Rd high school outfield discussion, as well. (Nick Faleris)|

(Jake H from Kansas City)
|I think I was (am?) probably higher on Ryan Boldt (Red Wing HS, Red Wing, Minn.) than some. I liked Frazier a little more than Meadows when I saw them side-by-side at Perfect Game's National Showcase in June, though I think much of the industry is split on those two (with Meadows getting the early hype last spring and more coming around to Frazier).
