2015-07-15 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Chris. Between Keury Mella, Jairo Labourt, and Michael Kopech, what would your order be of these prospects if you had them in your farm? Any thoughts and opinions on them if all could possibly be role 6 pitchers?
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
Boy that's a great question. I'd probably go Kopech, Labourt, Mella. Kopech's arm strenght is just stupid, and he's flashing a pretty nice curveball, though the delivery isn't ideal. If Labourt starts throwing more strikes he wins, but I need to see him do that. (Christopher Crawford)
2015-07-01 13:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Wilson. Any thoughts on Keury Mella, Blake Snell, and Michael Kopech? Think they can all possibly be role 6 pitchers?
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
Mella has one of the better fastballs I've seen this year, and had made some notable strides in refining his delivery when I caught him at the Cal League AS game last week. Note on him here: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=26806 Full report from earlier in the year here: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2015/4/13/8398623/scouting-the-california-league-tyler-beede-keury-mella-brett-phillips

Snell still faces some command and arsenal depth concerns, but the performance has obviously been lights out this year. And Kopech might have the most upside of all on account of an evil FB in his own right: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=26455 (Wilson Karaman)
2015-07-01 13:00:00 (link to chat)Who has a higher ceiling/floor between Tyler Beede and Keury Mella?
(GPT from San Jose, CA)
Wrote up both here: http://www.minorleagueball.com/2015/4/13/8398623/scouting-the-california-league-tyler-beede-keury-mella-brett-phillips

Beede's a safer bet, although recent reports I've heard of him since his promotion suggest a player that may have a few too many cooks in his developmental kitchen right now. He brought two new pitches into his arsenal this year (cutter, 2-seam) despite an already-abundant supply of options. Mella's FB is awesome, and with standard development of his CB and CH he can turn into something. (Wilson Karaman)
2015-06-15 19:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Brendan. Do you have any Low Minor, high ceiling prospects your a fan of and are looking to jump on before their stock gains recognition this season?
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
I like it when prospects start putting it together after going through some early struggles. So, seeing guys like Matt Chapman and Carlos Tocci start to hit is exciting.

I got this question before the season, and answered with Keury Mella and Monte Harrison. Mella has been great; Harrison has... well, Mella's been great. Still have my eye on both. (Brendan Gawlowski)
2015-02-25 14:00:00 (link to chat)Do you have any particular love for any of the following minor league pitchers? Luis Ortiz, Spencer Adams, Nick Howard, Josh Hader, Keury Mella, Garrett Fulenchek I know they are in various stages of development, but do any one of the above stand out? Any that you feel may not have much of a chance of success?
(Gravybill from Behind You!)
Ortiz and Spencer are two of my favorite helium arms that I think can explode to top prospects in 2015. I saw Howard on the Cape and he didn't thrill me, but he's gotten a lot better since the last time I saw him and people I trust who saw him last Spring had very good things to say. So I think you have those top three ordered right. Don't have much on Hader, Mella or Fulenchek. (Al Skorupa)
2015-02-18 19:00:00 (link to chat)Hey Brendan, who do you have as some of your favorite Low Minor, high ceiling prospects to keep an eye on for 2015, and are looking to buy stocks in before their stock gains recognition this season, ex. Tapia last pre-season or Devers by its conclusion?
(kiper90 from Rochester, NY)
Hard not to be excited by Monte Harrison, even if he doesn't ever hit for power. On the bump, I'm rooting for Keury Mella to show what he can do over a full season. (Brendan Gawlowski)
2015-01-09 13:00:00 (link to chat)How worrisome is Keury Mella's shoulder problem from last year? Is it truly a "let's see if he's durable" situation? I'm searching for reasons to be optimistic
(George from Mission)
I think San Francisco did the right thing acting conservatively with Mella. No reason to flip out yet, and I fully endorse being optimistic. This is a high-upside arm and if you're a Giants fan you should continue to be excited. (NL West Top 10s With Nick Faleris)
2014-09-23 13:00:00 (link to chat)Did you get to lay eyes on Keury Mella again after his injury? Thanks for your June report on him.
(Steven from NYC)
I did not and could not find anyone who did, unfortunately. I'm hoping he comes back fully healthy, as he was one of the most electric arms I saw all year. (Ethan Purser)
2014-08-08 13:00:00 (link to chat)I can't seem to get this question answered, but maybe you can help. What is the best source of info on MiLB player injuries? I am in a deep dynasty league and it would be really helpful to better understand the extent of some of these injuries. Specifically, I haven't seen anything substantive in a long time on Casey Kelly, Tom Murphy, Keury Mella, Jose Martinez or Harold Ramirez. I just know they're all hurt. Thanks!
(DF from Wilmington, NC)
I'm afraid I don't have a specific answer for you, other than pestering beat reporters. There are lot of guys who are interactive on twitter and are willing to find that info for you, though I know it might now always be the case. (Craig Goldstein)
