BP Podcast: Episode 94: It's Like Eating Fun Dip |
There's stuff going on in baseball, so we keep talking about it. Our listeners killed it on emails this week, including some outstanding tales of #want, and then we talk about the Orioles, potetial shenanigans in the 2012 draft, Dodgers prospects and wrap up Jason's time watching some Carolina League games in Wilmington. Our special guest is Shi Davadi, columnist for Sportsnet as we talk about the Blue Jays and the unique mindset of Blue Jays fans, but Shi is not only a journalist, he's a journalism instructor, so we review last week's rant on the state of Internet baseball content as well. From there it's the goofy stuff with good music, good drink and good ringtones.

BP Podcast: Episode 93: Miniature Donkeys Are Great |
After a brief hiatus, we return with an action-packed show (ok, we just talk a lot). After going on an email-inspired rant about the current state of baseball content on the internet, we delve into the game itself and discuss everything from Josh Hamilton's crazy run to Stanford righty Mark Appel to the lack of power prospects to the current state of the Arizona and Colorado systems. Then it's special guest time and a serious discussion about baseball and race with Doug Glanville in what is one of my favorite interviews in the history of the show. As always, we end with the goofy stuff, and as always, we thank you for listening and hope you enjoy.

BP Podcast: Episode 92: It's Wet, And It Has Some Bubbles |
It's a prospect heavy show as we talk about the ascension of Bryce Harper and Mike Trout to the big leagues, delve in to the top of the Rays and Padres systems, and discuss what scouts are saying about Red's burner Billy Hamilton and Seattle lefty Danny Hutzen. Our special guest is Adam Kilgore, the Nationals beat writer for the Washington Post, and we talk Harper, the rotation and the sustainability of the team's hot start. Then it's the goofy stuff and somehow we talked about soccer for 15 minutes. As always, we hope you enjoy.

BP Podcast: Episode 91: That's A Surreal Thing, Man |
And we're finally back. I apologize for the one day delay, and for the sound quality. This is kind of podcast in the raw with all the coughs and mouse clicks and paper shuffling left in. It was either going up like that or it just wasn't going to ever go up. Nonetheless it's a great show as we talk about why much of the Dallas metroplex area is mad a me, Yu Darvish's arsenal and what makes a No. 1 or No. 3 starter before delving into prospects as Jason wrote about Orioles farmhands and I went and saw Francisco Lindor play baseball. Then it's special guest time with Alex Speier of WEEI on the soap opera that has already been the Red Sox 2012 season. From there it's the goofy stuff, and you can relive the moment of #want on ESPN as it happens. As always, we do hope you enjoy.

BP Podcast: Episode 90: Lemonade Breeds Too Much Enthusiasm |
It's an intimate show loaded with baseball talk. We go through your email (the listeners have come up big in the last two weeks) and then we look back at Pudge Rodriguez, look at some present with some surprising hot starts in the big leagues, and then look forward with the possibility of the 2011 draft being a monster. Then Jason regales us with tales from his week watching Carolina League baseball. From there it's the goofy stuff, including a video game recommendation that I think will appeal to the statistically minded.
Quick lesson for podcasters: you can't have a guest without booking a guest. Because of that tough lesson, it's an intimate show loaded with baseball talk. BP Podcast: Episode 89: Marriage Counseling |
We're back with another big show. After reading your emails (nice bounce back week from the listeners) we get into lots of baseball talk as I took in my first minor league game of the year and Miguel Sano did not disappoint. Then it's onto the big leagues as Jason breaks down the first starts of 2012 by Yu Darvish and Neftali Feliz of the Rangers, and we talk about how Yoenis Cespedes has become much-watch television. With some hot minor league starts, the questions about when a player will reach the big leagues have arrived, and I answer every one of them before Jason goes on a rant about how we evaluate defense. Our special guest is ESPN Baseball Tonight host Steve Berthiaume, who for some reason listens to our stupid show, and then it's the return of Not Jim Tracy and all the goofy stuff. As always, we hope you enjoy.

BP Podcast: Episode 88: Face Down Looking For Trash |
We follow up last week's major league preview show with the minor league version, and with Jason back in Brooklyn, it's a return to standard podcast form. After rolling through your emails, we talk about Yankees and Phillies prospects in the name of completion and then it's 30 minutes of hardcore prospect talk as Jason and I each pick five players we will be watching intensely this season. Inspired by an email, our special guest is right-hander Steve Palazzolo who discusses the career of a journeyman who has pitched for three organizations and in three different independent leagues, and then the hawk trap guys makes a return appearance in our listener of the week segment, as he does not trap hawks anymore. Then it's the goofy stuff, including a very special musical guest and as always, we hope you enjoy.

BP Podcast: Episode 87: Many Of Their Fans Will Be Dead |
After a brief hiatus, we return with a star-studded 2012 season preview, as many of our favorite writers help us preview every division in baseball, but we save the best for last, as the official Up and In prediction for the 2012 World Series is reserved for Mom, and she does not disappoint. Then it's the goofy stuff, as Jason prepares to leave after a month in the desert. Tons of baseball talk, and we'll do it again next week with our minor league season preview. As always, we hope you enjoy.

BP Podcast: Episode 86: I Was Really Into Juicy Juice |
Just a quick show as I get ready to hop a plane for a few days in Arizona. We go through your email, and then after receiving a lot of comments about the Jairo Beras situation we bring on our good friend Jorge Arangure to discuss what exactly goes on with Dominican signings and age investigations. Then it's the goofy stuff, including an outstanding musical guest. As always, we hope you enjoy.

BP Podcast: Episode 85: A Decent Haircut In Toronto |
We had to get Jason settled into Arizona, we had some technical glitches to sort out, but we're back. Jason and I read through your email, talked about Rangers and Brewers prospects, discuss the strange kind of signing of Jairo Beras and discuss Jason's spring training dairy and how haters gotta hate. Our special guest is Oakland A's outfield prospect Jeremy Barfield, a unique personality among ball players, and then it's the goofy stuff. See you next week, and as always, we hope you enjoy.

BP Podcast: Episode 84: This Show Is A Disaster |
We promised we'd make it up to you and we did. We have the usual great emails, and two weeks of prospect lists to catch up on, but the special guests are the highlights. First, we're joined by both Jim Callis of Baseball America and Keith Law of ESPN to discuss the process of making a Top 100 (or 101) prospect list, as well as some differences we have and how the public reacts that lists. Then, in light of this week's big news, Mark Fainaru-Wada joins me to talk about the process that went into breaking the Ryan Braun in December as well as the righteous indignation that has come with the reaction. Then it's a bit of the goofy stuff and we're all done. As always, we hope you enjoy.

BP Podcast: Episode 83: You Didn't Ask Me About The Vomiting |
Short and sweet (well, for us), as the show almost didn't happen due to time constraints. We'll have plenty of Top 101 prospect talk next week, but for now we take your email, find an expert to talk to us about the Orioles shenanigans in Korea and have our return of the Listener of the Week with death metal legend Stevo. As always, we hope you enjoy.
