BP Beta Blog: Prospectus Hit List Returns |
An old friend is back, with a new format, daily updates, and more.
Hello beta testers. Today we're happy to release the brand new Prospectus Hit List for you to have a look. As with the Compensation page beta tester release a couple of weeks ago, we're hoping most of the page will be self-explanatory, especially to people familiar with the original concept. A couple of changes that we want to highlight, though, are

BP Unfiltered: The Curious Case of Madison Bumgarner |
He wasn't on our Internet Baseball Awards Rookie of the Year ballot. He should have been.
Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner is a lot of things. He's a pivot point in Christina Kahrl's hot-off-the-presses NLCS preview. He's the cover model for today at baseballprospectus.com. He's also a rookie. Unfortunately, until late yesterday he was unrepresented in our Internet Baseball Awards National League Rookie of the Year ballot. Oops.

BP Unfiltered: Internet Baseball Awards and The Tenth Inning |
Qualify to win a Tenth Inning DVD/Blu-Ray and signed poster by voting in the Internet Baseball Awards!
As you hopefully already knew, the Internet Baseball Awards balloting is now open. As always, the IBAs are completely free--we just need you to have any level of Baseball Prospectus account so we can verify who is voting--and voting qualifies you to win a year of Baseball Prospectus Premium. The IBAs are the longest-running online balloting for baseball awards that we know of--predating Baseball Prospectus itself by years--and we're proud of the decisions our voters have made throughout the years. If you haven't already cast your ballot, we hope you'll do so.

BP Unfiltered: After The Knife |
As Will Carroll moves on, a brief look back.
I can still remember the day that Gary Huckabay and I met up in Coronado to talk about the future of Baseball Prospectus, though I don't remember the exact date. There was a lot of tension on the team and not a lot of money to go around, and our default position was just blowing the whole thing up and saying our goodbyes. We ended up selling each other on making a go of a greatly expanded content offering, though, most of which would be available (*gasp*) to subscribers only. We both expected paying for content to be a tough sell to prospective subscribers, so after laying out the content schedule for the long-time contributors already on staff, we looked it over, and it looked qualitatively strong but a little thin.
