  • Giants OF Hunter Pence drove in a whopping seven runs with a pair of singles and a grand slam.

  • Braves SP Kris Medlen hurled 7 1/3 innings of scoreless ball.

  • Pirates SP Gerrit Cole delivered another dominant performance, allowing just one run on five hits over his seven frames.
  • Cubs OF Nate Schierholtz went 1-for-4 with an RBI double.
  • Cubs SP Scott Baker pitched extremely well in a no-decision, allowing just one run on three hits over six strong innings.

  • Phillies RP Jonathan Papelbon wriggled his way out of a jam during the ninth inning, preserving a one-run advantage and earning his 27th save of the season.
  • Phillies OF John Mayberry swatted his 11th homer of the season.
  • Phillies SP Cole Hamels allowed three runs on eight hits over six-plus innings.
  • Nationals OF Denard Span extended his hitting streak to 25 games with a first inning single.
  • Nationals SP Gio Gonzalez struggled in a losing effort, allowing four runs on nine hits over six innings.

  • Diamondbackks 2B Aaron Hill went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI.

  • Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez fired 8 1/3 innings of one-run ball.

  • Blue Jays OF Colby Rasmus launched a two-run homer.
  • Blue Jays RP Casey Janssen picked up 30th save of the season.

  • Royals 1B Eric Hosmer delivered an RBI triple in the first inning.
  • Royals RP Greg Holland escaped with his 42nd save of the season, after the potential tying run was cut down at the plate attempting to score.
  • Royals SP Ervin Santana was brilliant, twirling 6 2/3 scoreless innings while striking out five.
  • Tigers OF Austin Jackson went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts.
  • Tigers SP Doug Fister pitched well in a losing effort, surrendering just one run on eight hits over his 7 2/3 innings of work.
(87-61) Athletics
- 1 at 0 - Rangers (81-66)
  • Athletics SP Bartolo Colon tossed eight scoreless innings while striking out seven.
  • Rangers SP Yu Darvish struck out 10 over seven innings of one-run ball.
  • Athletics 1B Brandon Moss delivered an RBI double.

National League:
American League:
  • Yankees transferred SS Derek Jeter to the 60-day disabled list.
  • Yankees activated RHP David Phelps from the 60-day disabled list.
Injury Updates:

National League:

  • 3B David Wright ran the bases at increased intensity without any issues on Saturday, and is expected to return to the Mets lineup next week during their series against the Giants which begins on Tuesday.
  • SP Johnny Cueto (back) threw a successful bullpen session on Saturday, and is expected to return to the Reds rotation on Monday or Tuesday.
  • C Jeff Mathis (thumb) could return to the Marlins starting lineup as early as Sunday.
  • Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi (back) has shown improvement since being scratched from Thursday's start against the Braves, and could return to the rotation to take on the Phillies next week.
  • RP Sean Marshall (shoulder) threw a successful bullpen session on Friday and declared himself ready to rejoin the Reds bullpen.
  • RP Tom Gorzelanny (shoulder) remains hopeful that he'll return to the Brewers before the end of the 2013 season.
  • The Pirates have shut down SP Wandy Rodriguez (elbow, forearm) for the remainder of the 2013 season.
  • Dodgers SP Chris Capuano experienced continued discomfort in his injured groin during Friday's bullpen session.
  • Mets RP Frank Francisco was diagnosed with a thumb contusion after X-rays came back negative on Saturday.
  • Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez (back) indicated that he was feeling much better on Saturday, and that the only source of soreness is from the site of his cortisone injection.
  • Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa (thumb) will have his next scheduled start pushed back.
  • Dodgers OF Andre Ethier is expected to miss a few days after tweaking his left ankle during Friday's game against the Giants.
  • Nationals SP Ross Detwiler (back) tossed another successful bullpen session on Saturday.
  • Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (forearm) is scheduled to play catch on Sunday, then throw a bullpen session on Monday.
  • OF Domonic Brown (heel) could return to the Phillies' starting lineup on Sunday afternoon.
  • Pirates OF Starling Marte (hand) took batting practice without any issues before Saturday's game, and manager Clint Hurdle stated that he could be ready for "game at-bats".
  • Braves SP Brandon Beachy (elbow) will attempt to play catch on Monday or Tuesday.
American League
  • Athletics RP Brett Anderson said that he feels better on Saturday, despite his back still being a little stiff.
  • Indians SP Justin Masterson (oblique) played catch on flat ground for the second consecutive day on Friday without reporting any issues.
  • Mariners SS Brad Miller was removed from Saturday's game against the Cardinals due to a strained left hamstring.
  • Twins OF Wilkin Ramirez is currently ahead of schedule in his recovery from a fractured left tibia.
  • C Joe Mauer (concussion) could rejoin the Twins on their upcoming road trip to Chicago and Oakland, even if he doesn't travel with the team initially.
  • Royals 1B Carlos Pena is expected to miss the rest of the 2013 season after undergoing an emergency appendectomy on Saturday.
Notes & Rumors:

National League:

  • Mets RP Jeurys Familia plans to participate in winter ball in the Dominican Republic this offseason, in an effort to make up for lost time due to injury this season.
  • Pirates SP James McDonald refused his assignment to Triple-A Indianapolis and has elected to become a free agent.
  • Rockies 1B Todd Helton told the Denver Post on Saturday that he will retire at the end of the season.
  • The Phillies have no plans for Cuban right-hander Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez to pitch competitively until spring training.

American League:

  • SP Felix Doubront is slated to rejoin the Red Sox starting rotation next weekend against the Blue Jays.
  • Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta continued to take fly balls in left field on Friday, indicating that he could be used there once returning from his 50-game suspension.
