  • Mets OF Marlon Byrd went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored.
  • Mets RP Bobby Parnell allowed no runs despite having surrendered two hits, earning his 17th save of the season.
  • Mets SP Dillon Gee allowed one run -- none earned -- in 6 2/3 innings.
  • Pirates SP Gerrit Cole surrendered three earned runs in five innings while striking out two.
(46-50) Rockies - 3 at 1 - Dodgers (47-47)
  • Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin allowed just one run over six innings.
  • Dodgers SP Ricky Nolasco suffered his first loss allowing three runs on eight hits over five innings.
  • Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig (hip) went 1-for-3 in his return to action.
(48-47) Nationals - 5 at 2 - Marlins (35-58) (10 innings)
  • Nationals OF Denard Span went 3-for-5 with two doubles, a pair of RBI and a run scored.
  • Nationals RP Rafael Soriano earned his 25th save of the season.
  • Nationals SP Taylor Jordan enjoyed the best start of his young career, hurling six innings of two-run ball in a no-decision.
  • Marlins RP Steve Cishek was slapped with his fifth loss after allowing three runs over 1 1/3 innings.
(53-42) Reds - 8 at 4 - Braves (54-41)
  • Reds RP Aroldis Chapman allowed a solo homer to Andrelton Simmons in a non-save situation.
  • Reds OF Jay Bruce finished 3-for-5 with a double, home run and two RBI.
  • Reds OF Shin-Soo Choo went 2-for-3 with a home run, two walks and three runs scored.
  • Reds SP Tony Cingrani allowed two runs -- one earned -- on four hits over four innings in a no-decision.
  • Braves SP Julio Teheran was chased for five runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings.

  • Diamondbacks C Miguel Montero went 1-for-4 with a home run.
  • Diamondbacks SP Ian Kennedy was charged with five runs on nine hits over 6 1/3 innings.
  • Brewers SP Wily Peralta allowed just one run on seven hits over seven innings.

  • Cubs SP Travis Wood allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings.
  • Cubs 2B Darwin Barney went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI.
  • Cardinals RP Edward Mujica picked up the win in a non-save situation.
  • Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright gave up four runs on eight hits over six innings.

  • Giants OF Jeff Francoeur went 1-for-4 in his debut.
  • Giants SP Barry Zito lasted just two innings in his start allowing four runs on two walks and four hits.

American League:

(39-53) Twins - 10 at 4 - Yankees (51-44)
  • Twins OF Aaron Hicks blasted a three-run homer off CC Sabathia in the third inning.
  • Twins 1B Justin Morneau went 3-for-5 with a double, RBI and run scored.
  • Twins SP Kyle Gibson earned his second win by allowing three runs -- two earned -- over five innings.
  • Yankees SP CC Sabathia was rocked for eight runs -- three earned -- on eight hits over four innings.
(45-49) Blue Jays - 4 at 7 - Orioles (53-43)
  • Orioles RP Jim Johnson struck out two during a scoreless ninth inning en route to his 33rd save.
  • Orioles 1B Chris Davis ended the first half strong, going 2-for-4 with his 37th homer and four RBI.
  • Orioles SP Scott Feldman earned his first victory on his new team, allowing three runs on five hits over 7 1/3 innings.
  • Blue Jays SP Josh Johnson was hammered for seven runs on seven hits over six innings.
(54-41) Rangers - 0 at 5 - Tigers (52-42)
  • Tigers SS Jhonny Peralta went 2-for-3 with a walk, homer and two RBI.
  • Tigers OF Torii Hunter went 2-for-3 with a walk, home run and two runs scored.
  • Tigers SP Justin Verlander gave up zero runs for seven innings, allowing just one hit, in a victory.
  • Rangers SP Martin Perez yielded five runs over 5 2/3 innings.
  • Tigers RP Joaquin Benoit struck out both batters he faced in a non-save situation.
(43-49) Royals - 4 at 6 - Indians (51-44)
  • Indians 2B Jason Kipnis was perfect at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two walks, a double, two RBI and a run scored.
  • Indians SS Asdrubal Cabrera went 3-for-5 with a double, a pair of RBI and a run scored.
  • Indians RP Chris Perez collected his 13th save of the season.
  • Royals SP James Shields allowed three runs over five innings in a no-decision.
(58-39) Red Sox - 2 at 3 - Athletics (56-39) (11 innings)
  • Athletics SP Bartolo Colon went 6.1 innings allowing just two runs in a no decision.
  • Red Sox SP Brandon Workman was dealing tossing 6 innings of no hit ball before the A's finally got to him for two runs in the bottom of the 7th inning.
  • Athletics 3B Josh Donaldson hit his 16th homer of the year.
(33-61) Astros - 0 at 5 - Rays (55-41)
  • Rays OF Desmond Jennings went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer.
  • Rays OF Kelly Johnson went 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
  • Rays SP Chris Archer twirled the best performance of his career, tossing a four-hit shutout.
  • Astros SP Erik Bedard allowed three runs -- two earned -- on eight hits over five innings.

  • Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma allowed three runs over seven innings while striking out seven.

  • Angels SP Joe Blanton gave up four runs on five hits over four innings.
Inter League:

  • Phillies OF Domonic Brown smacked a two-run double.
  • Phillies SP Cole Hamels twirled eight innings of two-run ball in a no-decision win.
  • Phillies RP Jonathan Papelbon was charged with his fifth blown save when he allowed a run on two hits in the ninth inning.
  • White Sox SP Jose Quintana allowed three runs on five hits over six innings in a no-decision.

  • Padres purchased the contract of LHP Colt Hynes from Triple-A Tucson.
  • Padres optioned RHP Brad Brach to Triple-A Tucson.
  • Braves placed OF B.J. Upton on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 13, with a right adductor strain.
  • Phillies activated C Erik Kratz from the 15-day disabled list.
  • Braves activated C/OF Evan Gattis from the 15-day disabled list.
  • Giants designated RHP Chris Heston for assignment.
  • Marlins optioned LHP Duane Below to Triple-A New Orleans.

  • Red Sox recalled LHP Drake Britton from Triple-A Pawtucket.
  • Red Sox optioned OF Jackie Bradley to Triple-A Pawtucket.
  • Royals designated RHP J.C. Gutierrez for assignment.
  • Royals activated RHP Wade Davis from the paternity leave list.
  • Twins optioned INF Eduardo Escobar to Triple-A Rochester.
  • Twins optioned INF/OF Chris Parmelee to Triple-A Rochester.
  • Tigers signed RHP Jeremy Bonderman to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Toledo.
  • Red Sox sent RHP Alfredo Aceves outright to Triple-A Pawtucket.

National League:

  • Diamondbacks SP Brandon McCarthy (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment later this week at Triple-A Reno.
  • Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (thumb) has been ruled out for the All-Star game.
  • Phillies OF Ben Revere is expected to be sidelined 6-8 weeks with a fractured right foot.
  • Brewers SP Marco Estrada (hamstring, back) had a second consecutive bullpen session scratched.
  • Brewers RP Alfredo Figaro (oblique) will be used in long relief when he returns from the disabled list.
  • Cubs SP Scott Baker (elbow) was charged with four runs on six hits and a walk over three innings in his first rehab start with Low-A Kane County Sunday.
  • The Dodgers expect OF Matt Kemp (shoulder) to return from the disabled list when first eligible.
  • Padres 2B Logan Forsythe is day-to-day with right knee soreness.
American League:
  • White Sox 1B Paul Konerko (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Birmingham on Thursday.
  • Rangers SP Alexi Ogando (shoulder) is in line to start the Rangers' fifth game after the All-Star break.
  • SS Jayson Nix (hamstring) will travel to the Yankees' spring training complex on Monday and begin increasing his activity.
  • Yankees manager Joe Girardi said Saturday that DH Travis Hafner (foot) is fine.
  • X-rays to White Sox C Josh Phegley's right hand were negative.
  • White Sox SP Jake Peavy (rib) tossed five innings of one-run ball in his first rehab start with Double-A Birmingham Sunday.
  • Angels SP Tommy Hanson (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Inland Empire on Thursday.
  • Rays SS Yunel Escobar left Sunday's game with a slight right hamstring strain.
  • Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera (knee) will move his rehab assignment to Double-A New Hampshire on Monday.
  • Mariners RP Stephen Pryor (lat) is expected to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Low-A Everett.
  • Indians SP Brett Myers (elbow) remains without a timetable to return from the disabled list.

National League:
  • Giants RP Sergio Romo has been named the replacement for Jordan Zimmermann (neck) on the National League All-Star roster.
  • Bruce Levine of ESPNDallas.com reports that the Rangers and Blue Jays "remain the front-runners" for Cubs SP Matt Garza.
  • Nationals 2B Danny Espinosa is batting .486 (17-for-35) over his last 10 games at Triple-A Syracuse.
  • SP Matt Harvey will start the Mets' third game after the All-Star break.
  • Pirates RP Mark Melancon has been named as an injury replacement to the National League All-Star team.
  • Brewers RP Tom Gorzelanny is expected to remain in the Brewers' rotation after the All-Star break.
  • Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Saturday that SP Randall Delgado could remain with the team as a reliever after Brandon McCarthy and Trevor Cahill return from the disabled list.
  • Braves C Brian McCann will replace Freddie Freeman on the NL All-Star team.
  • Red Sox SS Stephen Drew (hamstring) will begin a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with Double-A Portland.
American League:
  • Orioles SP Chris Tillman has been added to the American League All-Star roster as a replacement.
  • SP Ross Wolf will remain in the Rangers' rotation after the All-Star break for at least one start.
