  • Cardinals RP Mitchell Boggs entered in the eighth innings with the game tied 3-3 only to allow four earned runs on four hits in just 1/3 inning, picking up his second loss of the season.
  • Cardinals SP Jake Westbrook allowed three runs on seven hits over six innings in a no-decision.
  • Phillies C Erik Kratz went 2-for-4 including a three-run homer.
  • Cardinals INF Matt Carpenter hit his 2nd homer of the season.
  • Phillies SP Kyle Kendrick allowed just two runs on eight hits over six innings in a no-decision.
  • Phillies SS Jimmy Rollins went 3-for-5 with a run scored from the leadoff spot.

Braves - 2 at 4 - Pirates

  • Pirates RP Jason Grilli is now 7-for-7 in save opportunities this season after pitching a scoreless 9th.
  • Braves SP Kris Medlen gave up seven hits and three runs while striking out six in 6 innings.
  • Pirates SP Jonathan Sanchez gave up two runs and four hits while striking out five in 3 innings.
  • Pirates SS Clint Barmes went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Marlins - 6 at 10 - Reds

  • Reds 1B Joey Votto tallied his third home run of the season.
  • Marlins SP Alex Sanabia gave up five runs and six hits while striking out three in 6 innings.
  • Reds SP Homer Bailey gave up two runs and seven hits while striking out eight in 6 innings in a no decision.
  • Marlins C Miguel Olivo hit a pinch-hit homerun, his 1st of the season.

Nationals - 0 at 2 - Mets

  • Mets C John Buck smacked his seventh home run of the season.
  • Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann yielded two runs in five innings and was tagged with the loss.
  • Mets SP Dillon Gee tossed 5 2/3 innings of shutout ball while picking up the win.
  • Nationals rookie 3B Anthony Rendon went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
  • Mets RP Bobby Parnell notched his 2nd save of the year.

Cubs - 2 at 4 - Brewers

  • Cubs SP Scott Feldman picked up his third loss this season, allowing one run and three hits while striking out six in 5 innings.
  • Brewers SP Wily Peralta gave up two runs and five hits while striking out three in 6 innings to pick up the win.
  • Brewers RP Jim Henderson picked up his fourth save of the season.
  • Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo went 2-for-4 and launched his 6th homer of the year.
  • Brewers OF Ryan Braun hit his 5th homerun of the season, a 3-run blast in the 5th inning.

Diamondbacks - 5 at 4 - Rockies

  • Diamondbacks SS Didi Gregorius went 2-for-3 with a home run.
  • Diamondbacks SP Brandon McCarthy escaped with a no-decision after giving up four runs on eight hits over six innings.
  • Rockies 1B Jordan Pacheco went 2-for-4 with an RBI single.
  • Rockies SP Juan Nicasio allowed two runs on three hits and was removed after 4 1/3 innings.
  • Diamondbacks RP J.J Putz tallied his 3rd save of the season.
Padres - 0 at 5 - Giants
  • Padres SP Eric Stults gave up five runs on eight hits over seven innings while picking up the loss.
  • Giants SP Barry Zito threw seven scoreless innings, striking out four and allowing only five hits for the win.
  • Giants C Buster Posey hit his 1st homer of the season.
  • Giants OF Angel Pagan had a 2 RBI double in the 3rd inning.
  • Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval went 2-for-4 with an RBI raising his average to .290.

American League:

Yankees - 4 at 8 - Blue Jays
  • Yankees SP Ivan Nova allowed four earned runs on seven hits, walking four, and struck out five in five innings pitched in a no-decision.
  • Blue Jays SP Josh Johnson allowed eight hits, four earned runs, a home run, walked three, and struck out four in 5.1 innings in a no-decision.
  • Blue Jays C J.P. Arencibia went 2-for-4 with a home run, his 7th of the year, a double, two RBI, and two runs scored.
  • Yankees C Chris Stewart hit his first homer of the seasona solo shot in the 3rd inning.
  • Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera went 3-for-5 with an RBI, raising his average to .280.
  • Blue Jays 3B Brett Lawrie went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored.
Royals - 4 at 2 - Red Sox (Game 1)
  • Royals SP Ervin Santana gave up two runs and six hits over 7 innings and picked up the win.
  • Red Sox SP Ryan Dempster gave up four runs and six hits while striking out eight over 7 innings in a loss.
  • Royals RP Greg Holland picked up his fourth save of the season.
  • Royals SS Alcides Escobar smacked his 2nd homer of the season in the 1st inning.
  • Red Sox DH David Ortiz went 3-for-4 with an RBI in his second game back in 2013.
Royals - 5 at 4 - Red Sox (Game 2) (10 Innings)
  • Royals RP Kelvin Herrera gave up one hit and struck out three while picking up his second win of the season in relief.
  • Royals C George Kottaras hit his 1st homer of the season in his 1st start of the season.
  • Royals DH Billy Butler launched his 3rd homer of the year off Red Sox RP Koji Uehara (who gave up his 1st earned run allowed this season.)
  • Royals OF Alex Gordon went 3-for-5 and hit his 1st homer of the year.
  • Royals RP Greg Holland picked up his fifth save of the season and second of the day.
  • Red Sox SP Allen Webster gave up two runs and five hits while striking out five.
  • Royals SP Jeremy Guthrie gave up four runs and eight hits while striking out two in six innings in a no decision.
  • Red Sox 1B Mike Napoli went 3-for-5 while launching his 3rd homer of the year.
Athletics - 1 at 8 - Rays
  • Rays SP Roberto Hernandez limited the A's to one earned run over six innings while picking up the win.
  • Athletics SP Tommy Milone gave up four runs and eight hits over 6 innings and was tagged with the loss.
  • Rays SS Yunel Escobar went 3-for-4 and hit his first homer of the season.
  • Rays INF Ryan Roberts went 2-for-5 while driving in a run and scoring twice.
Mariners - 3 at 11 - Rangers
  • Mariners SP Aaron Harang struggled, giving up eight runs over 4 2/3 innings in a loss.
  • Rangers OF Leonys Martin hit his first home run of the season.
  • Rangers OF Nelson Cruz went 2-for-4 with grand slam.
  • Rangers SP Justin Grimm allowed two runs (one earned) on six hits and had a career-high nine strikeouts over six innings while picking up the win.
Twins - 5 at 3 - White Sox
  • Twins SP Scott Diamond gave up four hits and one run while striking out five over 6 innings.
  • Twins RP Glen Perkins picked up his 5th save of the season.
  • White Sox SP Gavin Floyd gave up three hits and one run while striking out six over 6 innings.
  • White Sox DH Adam Dunn hit his 3rd homer of the season, a solo shot.
  • White Sox OF Alejandro De Aza went 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored.
  • Twins OF Josh Willingham went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI's in the win.
Indians - 5 at 4 - Astros
  • Indians SP Ubaldo Jimenez gave up four runs and four hits while striking out four in 5 innings in a no decision.
  • Indians RP Chris Perez picked up his 2nd save of the season.
  • Astros SP Erik Bedard gave up two runs and six hits while striking out eight in 4 innings.
  • Indians C Yan Gomes hit his 2nd homer of the season in the 2nd innning.
  • Indians C/1B Carlos Santana went 2-for-5 including a solo homer, his 4th of the year.
  • Astros OF Fernando Martinez hit his 1st homer of the season, a two run shot.
  • Astros 2B Jose Altuve went 1-for-3 with an RBI, 2 runs scored and 2 walks.
Tigers - 3 at 4 - Angels (13 Innings)
  • Tigers 1B Prince Fielder went 2-for-4 with a home run, his 5th of the season.
  • Tigers SP Doug Fister was charged with two earned runs on six hits over seven innings.
  • Angels SP C.J. Wilson allowed three runs on five hits over six innings and took a no-decision.
  • Angels 1B Mark Trumbo hit a walk-off home run, his 2nd of the season in the 13th inning as the club swept the Tigers.
  • TIgers OF Austin Jackson had a rough day, going 0-for-7 while dropping his average to .291.
  • Angels OF Mike Trout went 2-for-6 and finally displayed some speed on the base paths, notching 2 steals, raising his total to 3 for the season.
Inter League:

Dodgers
 - 7 at 4 - Orioles
  • Dodgers OF Matt Kemp was moved down to the clean-up spot in the lineup and responded with one of his best games of this early season, going 3-for-5 with an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base.
  • Dodgers RP Brandon League tallied his 5th save of the season in a perfect 9th.
  • Dodgers SP Stephen Fife gave up four runs and seven hits while striking out five in 4 innings filling in for Chad Billingsley, who was placed on the DL.
  • Orioles SP Jake Arrieta gave up five runs and two hits while striking out six in 4 innings.
  • Orioles OF Adam Jones hit his 3rd homer of the season, a solo blast.
Player Transactions:

National League:
  • Phillies will recall SP Jonathan Pettibone from Triple-A Lehigh Valley to start Monday against the Pirates.
  • Rockies recalled RHP Rob Scahill from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
  • Rockies placed RHP Jhoulys Chacin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 20, with a lower back strain.
  • Reds transferred RHP Nick Masset from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list.
  • Reds purchased the contract of C Corky Miller from Triple-A Louisville.
  • Reds placed C Ryan Hanigan on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique.
  • Dodgers recalled RHP Stephen Fife from Triple-A Albuquerque.
  • Dodgers placed RHP Chad Billingsley on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow pain.
  • The Mets are expected to promote Robert Carson from Triple-A Las Vegas.
American League:
  • Indians placed RHP Brett Myers on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm injury.
  • Royals recalled LHP Will Smith from Triple-A Omaha.
Injury Updates:

National League:

  • Padres SP Kyle Blanks needed four stitches above his left eye after his sunglasses cut him during a collision with the outfield wall.
  • Diamondbacks OF Jason Kubel (quad) is not expected to return from the disabled list when first eligible.
  • 1B Freddie Freeman (oblique) will rejoin the Braves in Colorado on Monday if he continues to progress in his rehab assignment.
American League:
  • Angels 1B Albert Pujols is being relegated to designated hitter as he struggles with plantar fasciitis in his foot.
  • Twins SP Rich Harden (shoulder) is set to throw live batting practice to hitters in Fort Myers on Tuesday.
  • Mariners OF Franklin Gutierrez (groin) may be placed on the disabled list if his condition does not improve soon.
  • Angels SP Jered Weaver (elbow) plans to resume throwing Wednesday.
  • Rangers SP Nick Tepesch (arm) expects to make his next scheduled start on Thursday night against the Twins.
  • Orioles RP Steve Johnson (lat) threw a side session on Saturday and is on track to pitch Wednesday for Triple-A Norfolk.
  • Rays DH Luke Scott (calf) did some drills on Sunday and will likely begin a rehab assignment in the coming days.
  • Orioles SP Dylan Bundy (elbow) will throw from 75-90 feet Monday.
  • Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes (hand) will likely hit off a tee on Monday and could take batting practice early this week.
  • Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) threw a bullpen session on Sunday and might make his next start as scheduled.
  • Red Sox RP Franklin Morales (back) could be back with the Red Sox by the end of April or beginning of May.
  • White Sox SP John Danks (shoulder) is nearly ready to begin a minor league rehab assignment.
  • Red Sox SP John Lackey (biceps) could join the Red Sox after just one rehab start, according to manager John Farrell.
Notes and Rumors:

National League:
  • Brewers OF Ryan Braun was ejected in the eighth inning of Sunday's game against the Cubs. 
American League:
  • Indians SP/RP Corey Kluber will start in place of the injured Brett Myers when the Indians face the White Sox on Wednesday.
