  • OF Carlos Gomez went 3-for-4 to help the Brewers to a 4-3 win over the Giants.

  • SP Ryan Vogelsong allowed three runs in seven innings as the Giants lost to the Brewers.
  • Giants C Buster Posey, after going 0-for-4 on Wednesday, now has only two hits in his last 23 at bats and has yet to hit a home run this season.
  • SP Kyle Lohse allowed three runs in seven innings as the Brewers beat the Giants.
  • C/1B Blake Lalli delivered a pinch-hit, walk-off single as the Brewers beat the Giants

  • OF Bryce Harper went 4-for-5 to help the Nationals defeat the Marlins 6-1.

  • Nationals C Kurt Suzuki went 2-for-3 with a triple and a home run against the Marlins.

  • SP Ricky Nolasco allowed four runs in six innings as the Marlins lost to the Nationals.

  • SP Ross Detwiler allowed just one run in seven innings as the Nationals beat the Marlins.

  • SP Mike Leake pitched seven scoreless innings and went 3-for-4 at the plate as the Reds beat the Phillies 11-2.

  • SP John Lannan allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings as the Phillies lost to the Reds.

  • Reds SS Zack Cozart went 3-for-5 with his fourth home run of the year against the Phillies.

  • 2B Brandon Phillips went 2-for-2 with three RBI as the Reds defeated the Phillies.

  • Pirates SP A.J. Burnett fired seven shutout innings as the Pirates defeated the Cardinals 5-0.

  • Diamondbacks SP Wade Miley started strong but was done in by a poor seventh inning, allowing three runs over 6 2/3 frames in a loss to the Yankees.

  • OF Starling Marte went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the Pirates' defeat of the Cardinals.

  • SP Shelby Miller allowed two earned runs over six innings in the Cardinals' loss to the Pirates.

  • Diamondbacks 1B Paul Goldschmidt launched a two-run homer in a loss to the Yankees.

  • Cardinals RP Trevor Rosenthal allowed two runs -- one earned -- in a one-inning appearance against the Pirates.

  • OF Jay Bruce hit a walk-off RBI single in the Reds' 1-0 defeat of the Phillies in Cincinnati.

  • Padres OF Kyle Blanks went 2-for-3 and hit his first home run of the year in the club's win over the Dodgers.

  • In a night when SP Clayton Kershaw became the quickest Dodger to 1,000 strikeouts (970 innings) surpassing Sandy Koufax (990), he allowed five runs (three earned), three home runs, and seven hits, while walking four and striking out five in 5.1 innings pitch in the loss to the Padres 7-2.

  • SP Mike Minor held the Royals to one run in six innings, but took his first loss since last Aug. 19.

  • Braves OF B.J. Upton went 0-for-4 in a loss, dropping his average to .140.

  • Padres SP Tyson Ross was removed after allowing one run in 4 2/3 innings against the Dodgers.

  • Padres 3B Chase Headley went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in his first game back from the disabled list.
  • SS Everth Cabrera went 3-for-4 with a homer, a double, a walk and a steal as the Padres topped the Dodgers 7-2.

American League:

  • Red Sox SP/RP Alfredo Aceves picked up his first win of the season, allowing three runs over five frames in a 6-3 victory over the Indians.
  • Tigers OF Austin Jackson went 1-for-7 with a double and four strike outs. The lone hit extended his hit streak to eight games.
  • In a game that saw the Tigers and Mariners hitters strike out a combined 40 times, 1B Prince Fielder fell victim to the K five times; the first time he had struck out more than four times in his career.
  • RP Joaquin Benoit got some help from the Tigers defense in his first save opportunity of the season as the Tigers defeat the Mariners 2-1 in 14 innings in a game that ended early Thursday morning. Benoit allowed two hits and no runs, and earned his first save of the season.
  • SP Felix Hernandez pitched eight innings, allowing four hits, one unearned run, no walks, and struck out 12 in a no-decision as the Mariners fell to the Tigers 2-1 in 14 innings.
  • SP Max Scherzer struck out 12 batters in an eight inning no-decision, allowing six hits, one earned run, and one walk as the Tigers defeated the Mariners 2-1 in 14 innings.
  • Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey recorded his first save of the season, striking out a pair while retiring the Indians in order.

  • Indians SP Justin Masterson gave up four runs on 11 hits and a walk over five innings in a loss to the Red Sox.

  • 1B James Loney went 3-for-3 with three RBI as the Rays beat the Orioles 6-2.

  • OF Adam Jones went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run, but the Orioles lost to the Rays.

  • Making his first start of the season, Red Sox 1B Mike Carp went 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI triple in a win over the Indians.

  • SP Chris Tillman allowed four runs in five innings of the Orioles' loss to the Rays.

  • SP Matt Moore allowed two runs over 6 2/3 innings, and the Rays beat the Orioles.

  • Indians 1B Nick Swisher singled and belted a two-run homer off Alfredo Aceves in a loss to the Red Sox.

  • Yankees SP CC Sabathia went eight innings, yielding three runs on six hits and a walk in a 4-3 comeback victory over the Diamondbacks.

  • SP Jose Quintana held the Blue Jays scoreless through 6 2/3 innings, leading the White Sox to a 7-0 win.

  • Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ took his first loss of the year, allowing five runs in 5 1/3 innings against the White Sox.

  • White Sox OF Alex Rios went 1-for-3 with his fifth home run of the season against the Blue Jays.

  • Yankees DH Travis Hafner belted a pinch-hit, go-ahead solo homer in a comeback win over the Diamondbacks.

  • White Sox C Tyler Flowers went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run against the Blue Jays.

  • A's SP Bartolo Colon pitched six innings of one-run ball to beat the Astros.

  • Astros SP Bud Norris was pulled after allowing six runs in two-thirds of an inning against the A's.

  • A's RP Grant Balfour allowed one earned run, two hits, and struck out one to earn his third save of the season, and second in as many days.
  • A's OF Josh Reddick had a two-run double and a walk vs. the Astros.

  • Astros OF Rick Ankiel delivered his second pinch-hit homer of the season in a 9th inning against the A's.

  • Royals SP Wade Davis blanked the Braves for seven innings, striking out seven, to earn a victory in a 1-0 game.

  • Making his first appearance in eight days, Royals RP Greg Holland struck out the side in the ninth to earn a save in a 1-0 game against the Braves.

Player Transactions:

National League:
  • Dodgers recalled C Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Albuquerque.

  • Dodgers placed LHP Chris Capuano on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left calf.

  • Padres activated 3B Chase Headley from the 15-day disabled list.

  • Padres placed OF Cameron Maybin on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 16, with a right wrist impingement.

  • Brewers re-signed RHP Francisco Rodriguez to a minor league contract.

  • Mets recalled RHP Jeurys Familia from Triple-A Las Vegas.

  • Mets optioned RHP Greg Burke to Triple-A Las Vegas.

  • Reds prospect RP Tony Cingrani will be called up from Triple-A Louisville to start Thursday against the Marlins.

American League:
  • Indians recalled RHP Corey Kluber from Triple-A Columbus.

  • Indians placed OF Michael Bourn on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 15, with a lacerated right finger.

  • White Sox recalled OF Jordan Danks from Triple-A Charlotte.

  • CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that DH Julio Borbon will be placed on waivers after the Rangers were unable to find a trade partner.

  • A's 1B Brandon Moss is expected to be activated from the paternity leave list Thursday.

  • Angels sent OF Scott Cousins outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Injury Updates:

National League:

  • SS Adeiny Hechavarria (elbow) may not go with the Marlins on their road trip that begins on Thursday.

  • Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman left Wednesday's game in the seventh inning after his left hamstring tightened up on him.

  • SP John Lannan will have his left knee examined on Thursday by the Phillies' team doctor.

  • Brewers OF Ryan Braun said his neck is no longer an issue.
  • Phillies OF Domonic Brown left Wednesday's game against the Reds with a mid-back injury.

  • Giants 2B Tony Abreu (quad, knee) played six innings in an extended spring training game on Tuesday.

  • Brewers 1B Taylor Green could need surgery to repair a left hip labrum injury.

  • Nationals prospect 3B Matt Skole underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery on Wednesday.

  • Nationals manager Davey Johnson said 2B Danny Espinosa (wrist) is "50-50" to return to action on Friday.

  • OF Giancarlo Stanton (shoulder) is expected to return to the Marlins' starting lineup Thursday in Cincinnati.

  • Mets RP Frank Francisco (elbow) is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment Wednesday at High-A St. Lucie.

  • Reds RP Sean Marshall (shoulder) is expected to return from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday, April 23.

  • Pirates SP Wandy Rodriguez (hamstring) has been cleared to make his scheduled start Friday against the Braves.

  • Pirates SP Charlie Morton (elbow) is scheduled to throw three innings or 50 pitches for High-A Bradenton on Thursday.
  • Braves 1B Freddie Freeman (oblique) could begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

  • Braves C Brian McCann (shoulder, wrist) is expected to begin catching in extended spring training games on Thursday or Friday.

  • Braves RP Luis Avilan (hamstring) does not think that he will require a trip to the disabled list.

American League:
  • Orioles RP Tsuyoshi Wada (elbow) will make at least two more starts in extended spring training before beginning a rehab assignment.

  • Orioles RP Steve Johnson (lat) could begin a rehab assignment following a four-inning appearance in extended spring training Thursday.

  • Yankees SP Michael Pineda (shoulder) threw a 35-pitch live batting practice session on Tuesday.

  • Twins OF Darin Mastroianni will be sidelined for three weeks with a stress reaction in his left ankle.

  • A's C Derek Norris left Wednesday's game in the seventh inning after taking a foul tip off his mask.

  • Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Wednesday that OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) could return from the disabled list when first eligible on April 26.

  • Red Sox manager John Farrell said Wednesday that he's not ready to guarantee RP Joel Hanrahan (hamstring) will regain the closer job when he returns from the disabled list.

  • Red Sox RP Craig Breslow (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment at Double-A Portland next Tuesday.

  • Orioles SP Dylan Bundy (elbow) has yet to resume throwing.

  • Indians 2B Jason Kipnis (elbow) is expected to return to the Indians' starting lineup Friday against the Astros.

  • Indians SP Scott Kazmir (abdomen) remains on target to start Saturday after getting through a bullpen session Wednesday without incident.
  • Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira (wrist) took swings underwater on Tuesday.

  • Angels RP Kevin Jepsen was diagnosed with a strained lat muscle Wednesday following an MRI.

  • Red Sox SP John Lackey (biceps) is scheduled to throw again Thursday.

  • A's OF Yoenis Cespedes (hand) hasn't resumed hitting.

  • Yankees RP Cesar Cabral (elbow) threw a scoreless inning Wednesday in an extended spring training game.

  • Tigers manager Jim Leyland said following Tuesday's game that RP Octavio Dotel (elbow) is ready to return to action.
