I think we can predict more or less how Kendrys and Vargas will do, so to judge DiPoto on this, it will depend on how well Bourjos and Trumbo hit, because it basically looks like a square deal.
I'm still uncertain Bourjols will get much playing time considering even Vernon Wells got more AB than him in 2012.
considering the GM has come out and said that Borjous will start, prior to this trade, i find it unlikely that your uncertainty will come to fruition. there's just no justifiable reason to start Wells on a regular basis other than that he's paid a lot. PB is a better hitter overall than Vernon, and it would literally be criminal to discuss PB's defense and Vernon Wells in the same sentence. wells will play, assuming hes not dealt, but id guess he will get 1-2 starts a week and some PH appearances.
which lineup do you like better?
1.) Trout, 2.) Aybar, 3.) Pujols, 4.) Hamilton, 5.) Trumbo, 6.) Kendrick, 7.) Callaspo, 8.) Ianetta, 9.) Borjous

DiPoto said Bourjos would start last year. I should know, he was on my fantasy team. Bourjos finished April with only 53 plate appearances.
Whether there's "no justifiable reason to start Wells", the fact remains Wells played more than Bourjos last year and it had nothing to do with a Bourjos injury or some such. Despite what the stats say and the defense suggests, Bourjos was given less playing time than Wells (in addition to Hunter, Trumbo and of course, Trout).
P.S. I prefer the second lineup.
If we are to believe Dipoto and Scioscia's comments this off-season, Bourjos will start the season in CF and Trout in LF.
Here's one place where JD mentions it: http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/angels/la-sp-angels-trade-20121220,0,6452495.story
