Christian Colon, SS, Royals (Double-A Northwest Arkansas): 2-for-4, HR (2), R, 2 RBI.

Is Colon ever going to live up the the expectations generally associated with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft? Almost certainly not. That doesn't make him a bust. He doesn't have a lot of tools, but he's a wonderful baseball player with great instincts in the field and on the bases, and he can play anywhere in the infield. With a .292/.343/.427 line in 25 games that bat is starting to come alive and I'd still wager this guy lasts a decade in the big leagues as a second division starter/utility guy.

Others Of Note:

  • Matt Adams, 1B, Cardinals (Triple-A Memphis): 2-for-4, 2 2B, R, RBI, K. After going deep of each of his first three games, he's hit just one in 18 contests; still, he's hitting, with a .333/.371/.560 line in 21 games.
  • Jackie Bradley, OF, Red Sox (High-A Salem): 2-for-5, 2B, HR (1), R, RBI, 2 K. Nine-game hitting streak and up to .361/.462/.518 in 22 games.
  • Gary Brown, OF, Giants (Double-A Richmond): 2-for-4, K, CS. A long way to go but six-game hitting streak is first sign of life; .239/.339/.293 in 24 games.
  • Adrian Cardenas, INF, Cubs (Triple-A Iowa): 3-for-5, R, 3 RBI, K. With all the talk of Rizzo and Jackson, don't be surprised if Cardenas gets the call first as utility guy; .354/.398/.585 in 22 games.
  • Nick Castellanos, 3B, Tigers (High-A Lakeland): 2-for-4, 2 RBI. Third straight two-hit game and 12 in 23 starts; .402/.436/.543 in 23 games and reviews of hit tool are glowing.
  • Robbie Erlin, LHP, Padres (Double-A San Antonio): 8 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 BB, 10 K. Too many strikes is making him a bit hittable, but 30 strikeouts against four unintentional walks in 23.2 innings.
  • Wilmer Flores, 3B, Mets (High-A St. Lucie): 4-for-6, HR (4), 2 R, RBI. More pressure on bat with move to the corner but responding well;. 318/.340/.511 in 24 games.
  • Taylor Green, 3B, Brewers (Triple-A Nashville): 3-for-4, 2B, R, BB. Finally getting going? 7-for-14 in last four games and up to .271/.361/.376 overall.
  • Brett Jackson, OF, Cubs (Triple-A Iowa): 4-for-5, 2 2B, 4 R, 2 RBI, K. Snaps out of 6-for-36 slump; .266/.369/.457 in 23 games.
  • Tyrell Jenkins, RHP, Cardinals (Low-A Quad Cities): 5.2 IP, 2 H, 1 R (0 ER), 4 BB, 7 K. Scouting reports peg him as a bit of a spectacular mess with huge upside and lots of risk.
  • Hak-Ju Lee, SS, Rays (Double-A Montgomery): 2-for-5, 3B, R, RBI, 2 K. Third straight multi-hit game and sixth in last seven has lifted OPS more than 200 points in a week; .255/.319/.349 overall.
  • Taylor Lindsey, 2B, Angels (High-A Inland Empire); 3-for-4, R, RBI, K. One of the best young pure hitters around; .322/.388/.483 in 25 games and 20-year-old making full-season debut at High-A.
  • Starling Marte, OF, Pirates (Triple-A Indianapolis): 2-for-5, 2B, R, 2 RBI, 2 K. Hasn't had a lot of big games to make the daily, but has been consistently solid with an improved approach; .283/.353/.489.
  • Leonys Martin, OF, Rangers (Triple-A Round Rock): 2-for-3, SB. Left game late but not for call-up as he jammed his thumb. Shame, because at .347/.423/.520, it looks like he could help.
  • Chris Owings, SS, Diamondbacks (High-A Visalia): 2-for-3, HR (4), R, RBI, K; 2-for-3, 2B, HR (5), R, RBI. Stats might be catching up to impressive tools; .317/.351/.538 overall.
  • Andrelton Simmons, SS, Braves (Double-A Mississippi): 2-for-5, 3B, 2 R, 2 RBI, 2 K. Up to .325/.383/.434 in 20 games and the reviews of the defense have been stunning.
  • Oscar Taveras, OF, Cardinals (Double-A Springfield): 2-for-4, HR (7), 2 R, 2 RBI, BB, K, SB. Four home runs in last seven games; .347/.385/.694 in 24 overall and stock is exploding.
  • Corey Vaughn, OF, Mets (High-A St. Lucie): 3-for-6, 2B, HR (6), 2 R, 4 RBI, K. Home runs in four of last five games;. 279/.361/.558 overall.
  • Chris Withrow, RHP, Dodgers (Double-A Chattanooga): 6 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 0 BB, 7 K. The stuff is still there, and if he can start throwing strikes consistently, he gets very interesting.
  • Kolten Wong, 2B, Cardinals (Double-A Springfield): 3-for-4, 3 R, RBI, BB. Snaps out of mini-slump; .317/.404/.512 in 22 games.
