Top Minor League Prospects Compilation (Update #7)

by Joe Hamrahi

The seventh top prospects compilation update is now available. I have linked to the new file below. Some sites have begun revising their top ten lists to account for trades made over the past few months. I'll try to capture those changes on the next file.

The Excel workbook contains tabs at the bottom representing each of the league’s divisions as well as a tab for top 100 lists and positional analysis.

As usual, if you find any errors or omissions, would like to recommend a ranking source, or have any other comments or suggestions, please email me at jhamrahi@baseballprospectus.com. Previous years' spreadsheets are available upon request.

I agree with the sentiment expressed by SenatorsGuy.

This is a great service for subscribers. The type of thing we appreciate from BP but that doesnt get much notice.

Great job Joe!!

What's the BA League Prospects tab? Are they last year's? Posey, Santana, Bumgardner?

I believe the lists are the best players/prospects (by poll) that managers/coaches saw in their leagues in 2010. So guys that have exhausted their rookie eligibility but spent a decent amount of time in the minors in 2010 (Posey and Santana both had a couple hundred at bats in AAA, Bumgarner had 14 starts) will show up too.

Just got my subscription this week. And already I feel it has paid for itself with this. Many thanks.

I completely agree with Chad Supp. I am a charter subscriber to your site and have always felt I got great value for my money. And now I get this which this save me so much time and money as I prepare for my fantasy draft. Thank you so much.

Not sure if this has already been suggested...but you need two master list tabs. The first for overall rankings and the second for team rankings. For the overall, it would look like:
Player Team BP BA MLB etc
Trout Angels 2 2 1 3
Montero Yanks 3 1 2 4

The team rankings would be similar so you might have:
Player Team BP BA MLB etc
Teheran Braves 1 1 1 1
Carter Athltcs 1 2 2 1

There are too many benefits to mention in doing it this way. Otherwise, keep up the good work.

I understand that a matrix has a lot of value. It also requires a lot more manual input and time. If anyone, like geefsu below, wants to take the data I provide and create a matrix, fantastic! There are many things I'd like to do with these lists, but unfortunately I don't have the time.

What people are suggesting is a Matrix, and it doesn't require multi-tabs. Joe, I've been compiling your data in my own database for the last few years (from BDD site last year) and creating a Matrix. This year my Matrix will be even more in-depth. It's my understanding you'll be receiving my Matrix, through a mutual acquaintance, when it's completed.
