Thank you for your continued support of Baseball Prospectus and a Happy Holidays to you all. This last year has been a great one for Baseball Prospectus. Our sales and media hits continue to grow. We have added new contributors like Jim Baker, and more fully incorporated new additions like Steve Goldman and Dayn Perry. We even predicted the World Series winner correctly for once; a belated congratulations to Theo Epstein and the Red Sox. Baseball Prospectus' maturation, in terms of influence, scope, and quality, is a direct result of your faith in our products and our approach.
This is, I confess, my favorite time of the baseball year, or at least in a close three-way race with the League Championship Series and the first warm-weather Cubs homestand of the season. Although it seems funny to say that when there are no games being played, Baseball Prospectus is, at its core, about how to build a better baseball team. While the June draft and the July trading deadline continue to grow in their influence, the most important decisions that a typical baseball team makes are made in the cold of winter.
It is also one of the busiest times of the year for the Baseball Prospectus staff as we work to put together our annual book. The 2005 edition of BP will look, read and feel better than ever, thanks to our authors and the efforts of Workman Publishing. It will be our tenth annual; the "new kids on the block" aren't on our staff any longer but instead toddling the hallways at the homes of Gary Huckabay, Keith Woolner and Rany Jazayerli. Our longtime readers will know that, as a result of our work on the annual, the volume of our web content is on the low side this time of year. While we are going to be able to avoid a complete blackout this time around, you can expect the content flow to be somewhat lighter than usual for the next two weeks or so.
We anticipate that next year will be a great one, too. We will continue to make every effort to improve the quality of our products and services. We may also have a couple of surprises along the way, although those are not to be opened before Christmas. Your feedback is an essential part of the process, and I encourage you to contact me about business issues, Joe Sheehan and Jonah Keri about web content issues, Will Carroll about radio issues, Keith Woolner about data issues, Chris Kahrl about publishing issues, and Rany and Gary about their issues with only writing a column every Juan Pierre home run or so. We may not answer every e-mail, but we do take all of them to heart.
Most importantly, thanks once again for your support. The next egg nog is on us.
