The concept behind Flags Fly Forever is that we will aim to cover fewer topics in greater detail than your average fantasy podcast–generally four to five per episode. If you have suggestions for future topics, you can e-mail us at the link below.

This week's topics:

00:00 – 02:45 – Hello! Housekeeping!
02:46 – 14:10- Should we pay attention to Spring Training stats?
14:11 – 34:45 – "Bust" potential. Guys we think are going just a tad too high for our liking.
34:46 – 44:51 – Adjusting tactics for smaller leagues
44:52 – 57:05 – Diminishing returns in drafts/auctions and how to adjust for it
57:06 – 1:01:15 – Goodbye!

And everything you need to listen and enjoy is below this line that I'm typing right now:

Enjoyed the podcast discussion today. I find it interesting that using the presumably PECOTA-based Player Forecast manager on BP with standard league settings (I chose straight draft, 15 teams), Jean Segura projects as the 5th most valuable player in baseball worth more than $32(behind Trout, Cabrera, Ellsbury, Braun).

Enough to change your minds?

PECOTA is really conservative. For example, I'm in a R,HR,RBI,OBP,SLG,NSB league and it suggests Jose Bautista is the 3rd best player.

The one big exception is young players who had breakout seasons. It loves Puig and Segura for example, but that is probably because it weighs their success last year heavily compared to everything else.
