One of the reasons I love this podcast is that it's not really about baseball at all - it's about philosophy, ethics, psychology, brains, etc. Personally, I'm waiting for the convergence of sabermetrics and genomics.

Like Sam, I've experienced the Old Simpsons Episode Phenomenon (let's just call it that from now on) but never heard it so well described. Some comedy neurologist should look into it.

But I digress. On the question of the rarity of below-average offensive players being above average-runners, I wonder if almost never getting on base in the first place somehow has something to do with not being fast bag-to-bag.
