  • Joey Terdoslavich, RF, Braves (Toros del Este, DWL): 1-4, R, HR, 2 K. The Braves don’t have any open spots in their starting lineup, but they have a need for a right-handed bench bat with some pop, and that’s exactly what Terdoslavich can give them. He’s probably a second-division regular, but would be better suited as a platoon/role player on a good team, which the Braves are. In the right role and used properly, he could be quite effective.
  • Alen Hanson, SS, Pirates (Toros de Este, DWL): 2-4, R, K. Hanson has been on the Toros roster this winter but has played incredibly sparingly. He got his first start of the winter on Wednesday and collected a pair of hits while manning shortstop, a position he’s soon to vacate within the Pirates system. The Pirates will give him a chance to stick at second base to keep his positional value up, but his future is still undetermined with the glove.
  • Gregory Polanco, CF, Pirates (Leones del Escogido, DWL): 2-4, 2 R, 2B, 2 BB. Polanco wasn’t about to be outdone by his fellow Pirate prospect. The two were once lumped together in the same thought, but Polanco has since left Hanson behind in the developmental process and should contribute to the Pirates major league success in 2014.
  • Maikel Franco, 1B, Phillies (Gigantes del CIbao, DWL): 0-1, 2 BB. Anytime Franco, who drew just 30 walks in 134 games during the regular season and entered Wednesday with just six in 38 games this winter, draws two walks in one game, it’s worth a mini-parade, if only for the progress at which it hopefully hints.
  • Japhet Amador, 1B, Astros (Algodoneros de Guasave, MWL): 1-2, R, HR, BB. We talked a lot about Amador during the Arizona Fall League, but his power did not travel with him to his native Mexico. Wednesday’s blast was just his second home run in 21 winter league games, but it’s of little concern. Amador’s power is without question. It’s the rest of his game that is still up in the air.
  • Wilmer Flores, 2B, Mets (Bravos de Margarita, VWL): 2-3, 2B. Flores is playing this winter like a man who will enter spring training fighting for a position, which is good, because he’ll be exactly that this March. He’s been playing a lot of second base this winter, which will help, but if he comes anywhere close to his .845 winter OPS, he’ll make the Mets club no matter where he can play.
  • Ender Inciarte, CF, Diamondbacks (Aguilas del Zuilia, VWL): 2-5. With their trade of Adam Eaton, the Diamondbacks don’t have a true center fielder who can play every day (Gerardo Parra is better on a corner full-time and A.J. Pollock doesn’t hit enough). Inciarte may not hit enough to play every day, but he can play center field and knows his table-setting game well enough to just about pull it off.
