What about that Matt Olson fella?
He didn't make the cut. Was in contention, but reports on Nunez were better.
Is Russell definitely a shortstop?
If not, I would have expected his OFP and realistic roles to be all-star SS and first-division 3B
I think he's a shortstop. You will run into sources that suggest a move to third is possible, but I personally don't see it happening for a very long time. I think he makes it work at SS and develops into a first-division player as a floor. That's why the OFP/Realistic Role suggest as much.
A lot of teams would take Dan Straily's "back-end production" from their second or third starter. Okay, he doesn't have stuff and he needs all of O.co's space to keep the ball in the park. But his ERA and FRA matched closely last year, and he's never had an injury of note. Are there red flags that suggest he'll regress, or is Straily a back-end starter only in the context of the Athletics's rotation?
It's just not loud stuff and the total package (and production to date, taking peripherals into account) plays best as maybe a #4. I could see mid-rotation value if he can log 185 IP on the regular. I don't think any team with plans to compete would view him as a reliable #3, and certainly not a #2.
How much of the future is foreseeable?
Cute; clever. Clever and Cute!
In Gray's case, so long as he's under team control.
I have to go there. Correa or Russell?
Both in the top 10?
On solely offensive output, are they on the same level or still Correa?
Correa has a higher offensive ceiling, in my opinion.
Any insight on Tucker Healy?
Good relief prospect, if such a thing counts as a legit prospect (which I guess it does). I usually wait until AA to get excited about relief-only types.
Thought age might be an issue but with a reliever I think pitching in the hitting friendly California League makes it a wash.
Does he start at Midland in 2014?
I think so.
Jason- any information about Miles Head?
Disappointing season; overwhelmed at times by quality stuff.
Just a question about the scouting lingo: In describing Addison Russel's weaknesses, it states he "will expand and chase for spin." I understand "expand [his strike zone]" and "chase [pitches out of the strike zone]." What does "spin" refer to? Breaking pitches in general? Or pitches of a certain type?
He has a tendency to chase sliders or two-plane curves.
Breaking pitches in general.
Not a prospect, but any hope for Jemile Weeks to get back to his rookie season level of production?
Love the bat speed; don't always love how he puts it together.
Was wondering your thoughts on Drew Granier - The walks are definitely not good, but wondered what his most likely scenario might be.
It should be fun watching the Stockton Ports this year with Bostick, Robertson, Nunez, Olson, Wahl, Sanburn, and Ynoa probably there and McKinney later in the season.
Any thoughts on Omar Duran? I have seen him pitch a few times and he looked unhittable sometimes and other times he could not find the zone.
