  • Phillies SP Cliff Lee struck out nine while allowing two runs over eight innings.
  • Padres SP Eric Stults allowed two runs on six hits over six innings.
  • Phillies 2B Freddy Galvis went 3-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBI.
  • Making his first start in the majors, Padres 1B Tommy Medica connected for his first hit and first home run

  • Cardinals SP Lance Lynn surrendered just one (unearned) run in six innings.

  • Dodgers purchased the contract of LHP Onelki Garcia from Triple-A Albuquerque.
  • Dodgers transferred RHP Shawn Tolleson from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
  • Rockies acquired LHP Yoely Bello from the Yankees as the player to be named later from the Chris Nelson trade.
American League:
  • Yankees designated RHP Jim Miller for assignment.
  • Yankees placed SS Derek Jeter on the 15-day disabled list with a left ankle injury.
Injury Updates:

National League:

  • Reds SP Johnny Cueto (back) threw a 60-pitch live batting practice session on Wednesday morning.
  • An MRI on Braves SP Paul Maholm's left elbow came back negative.
  • Dodgers SP Chris Capuano (groin) threw off a mound Wednesday.
  • 3B David Wright (hamstring) could return to the Mets' lineup by the middle of next week.
  • Brewers OF Khris Davis (wrist) could return to the lineup Thursday.
  • Dodgers OF Matt Kemp (ankle) ran on a treadmill Wednesday.
  • SP Roy Oswalt will take Chad Bettis' spot in the Rockies' rotation.
  • Nationals SP Ross Detwiler (back) threw a successful 30-pitch bullpen session on Wednesday afternoon.
  • Mets 3B Justin Turner was diagnosed Wednesday with a slight strain of his right hamstring.
American League
  • The Astros don't have a timetable for OF Robbie Grossman's (oblique) return.
  • C Jason Castro (knee) remains out of Houston's lineup.
  • Angels RP Robert Coello's (shoulder) rehab assignment has moved to Triple-A Salt Lake.
  • Yankees manager Joe Girardi said on Tuesday that SS Derek Jeter (ankle) is in a "holding pattern."
  • Angels 3B Chris Nelson (hamstring) could be activated from the disabled list next week.
  • Yankees C Austin Romine has been diagnosed with a "slight" concussion.
  • Twins C Joe Mauer was sent home after his concussion symptoms returned after a workout Wednesday.
  • Blue Jays manager John Gibbons suggested Wednesday that 1B Edwin Encarnacion (wrist) may be done for the year.

Notes & Rumors:

National League:

  • Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong believes he may have been adversely affected by pitching in the World Baseball Classic.
  • Brewers OF Ryan Braun has been calling season-ticket holders to apologize for using performance-enhancing drugs.
  • Rockies 2B D.J. LeMahieu is currently riding a 12-game hitting streak.
  • Cubs manager Dale Sveum announced on Tuesday that the Cubs will move to a six-man rotation.
  • Braves 2B Dan Uggla is batting just .133 (4-for-30) since returning from the disabled list.
  • SP David Hale will make a spot start for the Braves in Friday night's series-opener with the Padres.
  • RP Alex Wood will be skipped on his next turn (Thursday) in the Braves' starting rotation.

American League:

  • Royals SP Danny Duffy will be skipped in the rotation in lieu of starting Friday against the Tigers.
  • Mariners manager Eric Wedge won't commit to a regular left fielder.
  • Kansas City general manager Dayton Moore said that the Royals will attempt to bring back SP Ervin Santana next season.
  • Yankees SP Phil Hughes will start on Thursday in Baltimore.
  • SP Erik Bedard will rejoin the Astros' rotation on Monday against the Reds.
  • SP Felix Doubront will rejoin the Red Sox' rotation, possibly as early as next week.
  • Orioles SP Jason Hammel will start on Friday in Toronto.
