  • Rockies SP Roy Oswalt (hamstring) could make a rehab appearance this weekend.
  • Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez (finger) hit four home runs -- including two into the upper deck -- at Coors Field during batting practice Tuesday.
  • Giants OF Andres Torres will be sidelined for six months after surgery to remove bone spurs from his left Achilles.
  • Cubs 3B Luis Valbuena (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with the Cubs' Arizona League team Tuesday.
  • Dodgers OF Matt Kemp (ankle) encountered no problems while running the bases Tuesday.
  • Nationals SP Ross Detwiler (back) has yet to throw off a mound.

  • Rangers SP Alexi Ogando (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session this weekend.
  • Athletics manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday that there's still no timetable for C John Jaso's (concussion) return.
  • Rays DH Luke Scott (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.
  • Athletics SP Bartolo Colon (groin) has been confirmed as the A's starter for Thursday's game against the Tigers.

  • Padres SP Robbie Erlin will be recalled to start on Wednesday at Arizona.
  • Nationals manager Davey Johnson said Tuesday that he's not ruling out using RP Tyler Clippard at closer down the stretch.
  • Phillies C Carlos Ruiz entered Tuesday batting .329 (26-for-79) with six doubles and four home runs since July 28.
  • Diamondbacks prospect SS Chris Owings has been named the Rookie of the Year for the Triple-A Pacific Coast League.
  • CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Pirates "have their eyes on" the Twins' 1B Justin Morneau.
