  • Marlins SS Adeiny Hechavarria delivered an RBI triple in the fourth inning.

  • Indians 2B Jason Kipnis blasted a two-run homer.
  • Indians SP Zach McAllister was terrific, surrendering two runs on four hits over 7 1/3 strong innings.
  • Twins 2B Brian Dozier swatted a solo homer and drove home two runs.
  • Twins SP Liam Hendriks was hammered in Saturday’s loss to the Indians, allowing seven runs on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings.

  • Athletics RP Grant Balfour earned his 32nd save of the season.
  • Athletics OF Coco Crisp hit a go-ahead ninth-inning homer.

  • Tigers SP Max Scherzer went six scoreless innings while striking out eleven.

  • Nationals SS Ian Desmond belted his 18th home run of the season.
  • Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann was solid, giving up just two runs on eight hits over 7 2/3 innings.
  • Royals 1B Eric Hosmer went 1-for-4 with an RBI single.
  • Royals SP Wade Davis struggled, surrendering seven runs on eight hits over his six innings of work.

  • Red Sox OF Jonny Gomes slugged a three-run homer.
  • Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu gave up four earned runs in five innings.

  • Cubs General Manager Jed Hoyer indicated Friday that they expect SP Scott Baker (elbow) to pitch for them at some point in September.
  • Pirates SP Gerrit Cole has had his start pushed back to Thursday of next week.
  • Mets 3B David Wright (hamstring) has resumed a running program.
  • Braves 2B Dan Uggla (LASIK surgery) will begin a rehab assignment Monday with Triple-A Gwinnett.
  • Diamondbacks C Miguel Montero (back) could return from the disabled list Monday.
  • Diamondbacks 3B Eric Chavez (knee, hip) has been cleared for a rehab assignment.
  • Phillies OF Domonic Brown left Saturday's game against the Diamondbacks with right heel soreness.
  • Cubs C Welington Castillo (ribs) is expected to return to the Cubs starting lineup on Sunday.
American League:
  • Angels RP Kevin Jepsen is not expected to return this season after undergoing an emergency appendectomy on Saturday.
  • Mariners C Mike Zunino (hand) is scheduled to take batting practice on Saturday.
  • Rangers DH Lance Berkman (hip) did some light running on the warning track on Saturday, and could soon head out on a minor league rehab assignment.
  • Indians SP Corey Kluber (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Monday.
  • Twins OF Aaron Hicks (wrist) has been cleared to return to the lineup at Triple-A Rochester.
  • Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) threw a successful simulated game on Saturday, but isn't expected to return to the Rays' rotation until the beginning of September.
  • Rangers SP Nick Tepesch threw a successful live batting practice session on Saturday.
  • Twins RP Glen Perkins hasn't been as dominant in August, posting a 3.72 ERA over 9 2/3 innings this month.
  • The results of Yankees OF Brett Gardner's X-rays showed no broken bones, and Gardner indicated that his hand feels fine.
  • Indians OF Ryan Raburn (calf) will undergo an MRI on Saturday.
  • Indians SP Brett Myers (elbow) is scheduled to make a rehab appearance with Double-A Akron on Saturday.
  • Athletics SP Bartolo Colon (groin) will throw a bullpen session Monday.
  • Orioles SP Jason Hammel (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Double-A Bowie.
  • Yankees SS Derek Jeter (calf) confirmed that he'll rejoin the Yankees on Monday.
  • Rangers SP Alexi Ogando (shoulder) is expected to resume a throwing program next week.
  • Rangers SP Colby Lewis underwent successful hip surgery Thursday.
  • Red Sox RP Matt Thornton (oblique) threw a simulated game Friday.
  • Angels RP Garrett Richards is expected to make his next start despite leaving Friday's outing with a right forearm contusion.
  • SS Jose Iglesias' (elbow) X-rays came back negative on Saturday, but the shortstop isn't sure if he'll return to the Tigers' lineup on Sunday.
  • Twins C Joe Mauer (concussion) has been told by team doctors to "take it easy" until Tuesday.
  • RP Garrett Richards will start on four days rest when the Angels take on the Rays in Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
  • Rangers OF Leonys Martin is being considered day-to-day after X-ray results came back negative on his injured ankle.
Notes & Rumors:

National League:

  • Braves 1B Freddie Freeman has collected multiple hits five times during his current six-game hitting streak.
  • According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, the Dodgers were close to agreement on a seven-year, $210 million extension earlier this season with SP Clayton Kershaw.
  • Dodgers owner Mark Walter said Friday that he is "absolutely" interested in a contract extension for SS Hanley Ramirez this offseason.
  • SP Roy Halladay could start for the Phillies in Sunday's series finale against the Diamondbacks.
  • Reds SP Greg Reynolds will be recalled from Triple-A Louisville to start against the Brewers on Sunday.
American League:
  • The Astros have moved struggling left-hander Erik Bedard to the bullpen.
  • Athletics SP Tommy Milone is scheduled to start Tuesday against the Tigers.
  • Rays SP Roberto Hernandez will start on Tuesday against the Angels.
