- SP Paul Maholm (wrist) said he feels ready to return to the Braves after his rehab start on Saturday.
- Brewers OF Carlos Gomez said his knee is feeling "way, way better" and that he's hoping to return by the start of the Reds series next weekend.
- Dodgers RP Brian Wilson (elbow) will likely not be activated on Sunday but could be in the next day or two.
- Pirates SP Jeff Karstens (shoulder) was re-evaluated in Pittsburgh on Saturday.
- Athletics SP Brett Anderson (foot) could rejoin the A's after his rehab start on Thursday.
- Royals OF Lorenzo Cain (oblique) said his injury has "four-to-six weeks written all over it."
- Orioles SP Jason Hammel (forearm) will throw off flat ground on Monday with an eye toward throwing off a mound on Friday.
- Rays SP Matt Moore (elbow) made 55 throws from 75 feet on Sunday and said it went "great," according to Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times.
- White Sox RP Ramon Troncoso went to the hospital with chest pains on Friday.
Notes and Rumors
- The Pirates have been scouting Cuban first baseman Jose Dariel Abreu.
- SP Jeff Locke will make his next start as scheduled, Pirates GM Neil Huntington said.
- SP Brandon Beachy will start on Tuesday, a day earlier than originally scheduled, as the Braves reshuffle their rotation.
- SP Jake Westbrook will remain in the Cardinals' rotation and make his scheduled start on Wednesday in Milwaukee, Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said.
- The Pirates may shift SP Gerrit Cole to the bullpen in September and October.
- The Brewers have reassigned RP Tyler Thornburg to the bullpen.
American League
- Astros RP Chia-Jen Lo and Josh Fields have emerged as the two-person committee that will close out games for the Astros.
- Twins SP Mike Pelfrey revealed that he takes Adderall to treat ADHD while discussing the Miguel Tejada situation with the media.
