  • Red Sox 3B Will Middlebrooks had a double in four at-bats in his return from a sore rib cage.
  • Twins SP Kevin Correia picked up the win going 5.1 innings allowing three runs and nine hits.

  • Braves OF Jason Heyward (appendectomy) could be activated from the disabled list for the series against the Diamondbacks that begins on Monday.
  • Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Thursday that RP Frank Francisco (elbow) will remain on his minor league rehab assignment for now.
  • Brewers SP Mark Rogers (shoulder) has been pulled from his minor league rehab assignment.
  • Mets SP Jenrry Mejia (elbow) has begun appearing in games at extended spring training in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
  • Mets catching prospect Travis d'Arnaud will have his broken left foot reexamined on May 17.
  • Dodgers manager Don Mattingly does not expect 1B Adrian Gonzalez (neck) to play Friday against the Marlins.
  • Diamondbacks 2B Aaron Hill (hand) is hoping to be cleared to hit off a tee sometime next week.
  • Pirates SP Charlie Morton (elbow, shoulder) will throw a bullpen session on Friday.

  • Dodgers SP Zack Greinke (collarbone) is expected to rejoin the Dodgers' rotation on May 15 for a start against the Nationals.

  • Giants RP Santiago Casilla is dealing with a cyst on his right knee.

  • Blue Jays SP Brandon Morrow experienced back discomfort while throwing a side session Wednesday and will likely have his next scheduled start pushed from Friday to Sunday.
  • Athletics SP Brett Anderson (ankle) is scheduled to make a minor league rehab start this Sunday.
  • Blue Jays SP J.A. Happ (head, knee) is expected to be sidelined 4-6 weeks.
  • Indians C Lou Marson (shoulder) has been cleared to begin a throwing program.
  • Indians RP Blake Wood's rehab assignment has been halted after he felt soreness in his surgically-repaired right elbow in his first appearance with Double-A Akron on Saturday.
  • Blue Jays SP Josh Johnson (triceps) is aiming to make a minor league rehab start around May 21.
  • Red Sox RP Andrew Bailey (forearm) indicated Thursday that he will not be ready to come off the disabled list when he's first eligible next Tuesday.

  • Blue Jays RP Ramon Ortiz is tentatively scheduled to start Friday against the Red Sox.
  • A's manager Bob Melvin said Thursday that SP Jarrod Parker (neck) will be fine for his next start.
  • Twins general manager Terry Ryan said SP Kyle Gibson is not an option to replace Pedro Hernandez in the rotation.
  • Angels SP Tommy Hanson will miss his scheduled start Friday following the death of his step-brother.
