  • Nationals RP Rafael Soriano recorded his eighth save of the year with a 1-2-3 ninth inning.
  • Nationals SS Ian Desmond delivered a two-run homer, the only runs of the game.
  • Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann allowed just two hits over 8 scoreless innings for the win.
  • Braves SP Paul Maholm took a tough loss, allowing just two runs over eight innings.
(11-15) Mets - 7 at 6 - Marlins (8-20)
  • Mets 3B David Wright went 3-for-5 with a homer, a double and three runs scored.
  • Mets RP Bobby Parnell needed just seven pitches to throw a perfect ninth inning for his 3rd save.
  • Mets SP Dillon Gee got the win despite allowing four runs in five innings.
  • Marlins SP Wade LeBlanc was charged with four runs in 5 2/3 innings in a no-decision.
  • Mets OF Pinch-hitter Jordany Valdespin delivered a three-run homer, his 2nd of the year.
(16-12) Pirates - 6 at 4 - Brewers (14-12)
  • Pirates 2B Brandon Inge went 2-for-4 with a go-ahead single in the top of the eighth.
  • Pirates RP Jeanmar Gomez pitched four innings and allowed three runs -- two earned.
  • Pirates RP Mark Melancon recorded his 10th hold by pitching a scoreless eighth. Melancon's ERA now stands at 0.60.
  • Pirates RP Jason Grilli notched his 11th save with a scoreless ninth.
  • Brewers SP Hiram Burgos pitched seven innings of two-run ball.
  • Brewers RP John Axford surrendered four runs -- three earned -- in two-thirds of an inning to take a blown save and a loss in the eighth inning.
(15-14) Reds - 2 at 4 - Cardinals (16-11)
  • Cardinals SP Lance Lynn became the National League's first five-game winner after pitching seven innings of one-run ball.
  • Cardinals RP Edward Mujica gave up a homer, but it didn't stop him from picking up his sixth save.
  • Cardinals 2B Matt Carpenter went 3-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI from the sixth spot in the order.
  • Reds 2B Brandon Phillips was the Reds offense, going 2-for-4 with a solo homer and an RBI double.
(16-12) Giants - 9 at 6 - Diamondbacks (15-13)
  • Giants SP Tim Lincecum gave up ten hits and five runs over 5 innings in a no decision.
  • Diamondbacks SP Brandon McCarthy gave up eight hits and four runs over 6 innings in a no decision.
  • Giants OF Angel Pagan went 2-for4 with a homer, two RBI's and three runs scored.
  • Giants RP Sergio Romo collected his 11th save in 12 chances.
  • Giants OF Hunter Pence went 2-for-4 with a homer and two runs scored.
  • Diamondbacks SS Cliff Pennington went 2-for-4 with a homer and four RBI's.

  • Rockies SP Juan Nicasio allowed five hits and three runs over 4 innings in a no decision.
  • Dodgers SP Josh Beckett gave up five hits and four earned runs over 4 innings in the loss.
  • Dodgers 1B Adrian Gonzalez hit his 3rd homer of the year.
  • Rockies OF Carlos Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with two RBI's a run scored and two walks.
  • Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and a run scored.
  • Rockies 1B Michael Cuddyer went 2-for-4 with two RBI's a run scored and a walk.
(10-17) Padres - 2 at 6 - Cubs (11-16)
  • Cubs SP Scott Feldman struck out 12 batters while giving up just 2 earned runs in a complete game win.
  • Padres 3B Chase Headley hit his third home run of the season.
  • Cubs SS Starlin Castro went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
  • Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko hit his 1st homer of the year.
  • Padres RP Andrew Cashner lasted only four innings, allowing five runs -- four earned in the loss.

American League:

(8-20) Astros - 4 at 5 - Yankees (17-10)
  • Yankees 2B Robinson Cano launched his eighth home run of the season.
  • Yankees RP David Phelps gave up eight hits and four runs in 5 2/3 innings in a no decision.
  • Astros SP Erik Bedard surrendered four earned runs over four innings in a no decision.
  • Yankees OF Brett Gardner came off the bench and stole two bases.
  • Yankees OF Ben Francisco launched his 1st homer of the year.
  • Astros 1B Carlos Pena went 2-for-3 with an RBI, run scored and a walk.
(12-12) Twins - 6 at 2 - Tigers (15-11)
  • Twins OF Chris Parmelee had a solo homer and an RBI single.
  • Twins SP Scott Diamond yielded two runs and four hits in six innings for the win.
  • Tigers RP Bruce Rondon retired just one of the five batters he faced and was charged with two runs.
  • Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez allowed five hits and three runs while striking out nine over 6 innings in the loss.
  • Twins 1B Justin Morneau went 2-for-5 with two RBI's and a run scored.
(12-15) Rays - 8 at 9 - Royals (15-10)
  • Rays DH Luke Scott went 3-for-3 with a home run.
  • Rays OF Ben Zobrist went 2-for-5 with a home run.
  • Royals OF Lorenzo Cain had his second-straight two-hit night in helping the Royals beat the Rays on Wednesday.
  • Royals DH Billy Butler went 3-for-5.
  • Rays OF Matt Joyce hit his 4th homerun in his last 5 games.
  • Rays SP Jeremy Hellickson turned in his second-straight subpar outing, surrendering four runs over five innings.
  • Royals RP Greg Holland notched his 7th save of the year.
  • Royals SP Luis Mendoza allowed six runs in four innings but took a no-decision.
(10-17) Angels - 5 at 4 - Athletics (16-13)
  • Angels SP C.J. Wilson gave up just six hits and two runs over 6.1 innings for the win.
  • Athletics SP Tommy Milone gave up seven hits and four runs while striking out ten over 7 innings in the loss.
  • Angels 2B Howie Kendrick went 3-for-4 and hit his 4th homer of the year.
  • Angels OF Mark Trumbo hit his 6th homer of the year. Trumbo has homered each of the last 3 games.
  • Angels OF Mike Trout launched his 3rd homerun of the season.
  • Athletics 3B Josh Donaldson went 1-for-3 with an RBI, run scored and two walks.
(16-12) Orioles - 3 at 8 - Mariners (13-17)
  • Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen was rocked giving up eight hits and five runs in just 4 innings in the loss.
  • Mariners SP Aaron Harang pitched well giving up just four hits and two earned runs over 6 innings for his 1st win of the year.
  • Orioles 3B Manny Machado blasted his 3rd homer of the year.
  • Mariners OF Mike Morse launched his 9th bomb of the season.
  • Mariners DH Kendrys Morales went 3-for-5 with three RBI's and two runs scored.
  • Mariners OF Michael Saunders went 3-for-5 with and RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base.
(19-8) Red Sox - 10 at 1 - Blue Jays (10-18)
  • Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz pitched seven shutout innings while picking up his 6th win of the season.
  • Red Sox 1B Mike Napoli hit two home runs and tallied four RBI.
  • Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle had another rough outing, allowing five runs in 6 2/3 innings in the loss.
  • Red Sox OF Daniel Nava went 2-for-5 with a home run, his 5th of the year.
  • Red Sox 1B Mike Carp hit his 2nd homer of the year.
  • Red Sox SS Stephen Drew went 3-for-5 and launched his 1st jack of the season.

  • White Sox SP Chris Sale allowed two runs over seven innings to pick up his third win of the season.
  • White Sox RP Addison Reed recorded his ninth save of the season, working a scoreless ninth inning.
  • Rangers OF Jeff Baker hit his third home run of the season and his second in as many day.
  • White Sox OF Alejandro De Aza doubled and homered, driving in two runs.
  • White Sox 3B Conor Gillaspie hit his 3rd homer of the year.
  • Rangers SP Nick Tepesch allowed five runs in 6 2/3 innings in the loss.

  • Indians SP Trevor Bauer picked up a win as he held the Phillies scoreless over five frames despite six walks.
  • Phillies SP Cliff Lee didn't have his best stuff against his former team, allowing five runs -- four earned -- on nine hits and two walks in a loss.
  • Indians OF Ryan Raburn stayed white-hot, going 4-for-5 with a pair of RBI.
  • Phillies C Carlos Ruiz was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.
  • Indians C Carlos Santana went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and raised his average to .395 on the year.

  • Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg (arm) tossed a free and easy bullpen session on Wednesday at Turner Field.
  • Nationals prospect right-hander Lucas Giolito (elbow) has thrown three bullpen sessions.
  • Pirates SP Jeff Karstens (shoulder) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Friday.
  • The Pirates could place 2B Neil Walker (finger) on the disabled list if he doesn't make progress by Friday.
  • Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said Wednesday that SP Charlie Morton (elbow) is on track to be activated around May 14.
