  • Cardinals OF Carlos Beltran went 2-for-5 while hitting his 4th homerun of the season.
  • Cardinals C Yadier Molina went 3-for-4, raising his average to .328.

American League:

Yankees – 5 at 3 – Blue Jays

  • Yankees OF Vernon Wells went 3-for-5 with a solo homer and two runs scored in 11 innings.
  • Yankees SP Hiroki Kuroda allowed just one run in seven-plus innings, but was handed a no-decision.
  • Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle yielded three runs in seven innings in a no-decision.
  • Blue Jays OF Melky Cabrera went 2-for-5 with a two-run single in a loss.
Royals – 3 at 4 – Red Sox
  • Red Sox OF Daniel Nava launched a go-ahead three-run homer.
  • Red Sox SP Clay Buchholz improved to 4-0 on the season by allowing only two runs over eight innings.
  • Royals SP James Shields tossed six innings of one-run ball in a no-decision.
  • Red Sox DH David Ortiz went 2-for-4 with an RBI single in his return from the disabled list.
  • Royals OF Lorenzo Cain filled up the box score by going 4-for-4 with a solo homer, two doubles, three runs scored and a stolen base.

  • Rangers C A.J. Pierzynski went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in a 5-0 victory over the Mariners.

  • Rangers RP Derek Lowe got the win Saturday, pitching four perfect innings in relief of injured starter Nick Tepesch.
  • Mariners SP Brandon Maurer allowed two runs in 6 2/3 innings.

Twins – 2 at 1 – White Sox

  • Twins RP Glen Perkins tallied his fourth save in an extra-innings win.
  • White Sox 1B/DH Adam Dunn finished 0-for-4 with three strikeouts in an extra-innings loss.
  • Twins SP Vance Worley allowed one run over seven innings in a victory.
  • White Sox SP Jake Peavy allowed one run over seven innings in a no-decision.

Indians – 19 at 6 – Astros

  • Indians 1B Nick Swisher tied a single-game career-high for hits (4) and runs (3) and set a new career-high for doubles (3) in a game.
  • In his first MLB start in 3 years, Indians P Scott Kazmir lasted 3.1 innings despite being given a 14-0 lead in the second inning.

  • Indians DH Mark Reynolds went 2-for-4 with four RBI in the Indians' 19-6 rout of the Astros.
  • Astros SP Philip Humber recorded only one out in his start while giving up eight runs before being removed. 
  • Indians 1B Jason Giambi hit his 431st career home run, tying him with Cal Ripken Jr. for 42nd place on the all-time home major league home run list.

Tigers – 0 at 10 – Angels

  • Angels OF Mike Trout finished 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI.
  • Angels OF Josh Hamilton went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.
  • Angels RP Garrett Richards hurled seven scoreless innings.
  • Tigers SP Rick Porcello only registered two outs in his start while giving up nine earned runs.

Inter League:

Dodgers – 5 at 7 – Orioles (Game 1)

  • Orioles DH Nolan Reimold had a big day at the plate going 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a go-ahead two-run double.
  • Orioles SP Jason Hammel gave up four runs in six innings as part of a no-decision.
  • Dodgers SP Hyun-Jin Ryu was touched up for five runs in six innings in a no-decision.
  • Dodgers OF Matt Kemp went 3-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored.

Dodgers – 1 at 6 – Orioles (Game 2)

  • Dodgers SP Josh Beckett gave up six runs and eight hits while striking out three over 5.2 innings.
  • Orioles SP Wei-Yin Chen earned the win giving up just one run over six innings while striking out two.
  • Orioles RP Tommy Hunter picked up his first save of the season, pitching three scoreless innings to end the game.
  • Orioles 3B Manny Machado went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBI's.

  • Dodgers OF Yasiel Puig has been placed on the 7-day minor league disabled list with a sprained left thumb.
  • Nationals placed 3B Ryan Zimmerman on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain.
  • Padres recalled RHP Thad Weber from Triple-A Tucson.
  • Padres placed RHP Tyson Ross on the disabled list with a left shoulder subluxation.
  • Padres signed RHP Eddie Bonine to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Tucson.
  • Braves placed INF Blake DeWitt on the 15-day disabled list with a lower back strain.
  • Diamondbacks released RHP Eddie Bonine.
American League:
  • The Royals plan to recall SP Will Smith from Triple-A in time for Sunday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
  • Astros placed OF J.D. Martinez on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right knee.
  • Athletics recalled RHP Jesse Chavez from Triple-A Sacramento.
  • Indians optioned INF Cord Phelps to Triple-A Columbus.
  • Angels recalled INF Thomas Field from Triple-A Salt Lake.
  • Angels placed RHP Mark Lowe on the 15-day disabled list with neck stiffness.
  • White Sox placed OF Dayan Viciedo on the 15-day disabled list with a left oblique strain.
  • Nick Delmonico has been placed on the 7-day minor league disabled list with a concussion.

National League:

  • Braves 1B Freddie Freeman went 5-for-5 Saturday with two doubles, two runs, and two RBI in second rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett.

  • Pirates SP Francisco Liriano struggled in his first rehab game Saturday. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, giving up four runs on four hits, three walks, four strikeouts.
  • Braves 2B Dan Uggla left Saturday's game against the Pirates because of a left calf strain.
  • Brewers SP Mark Rogers (shoulder) is set to begin a minor league rehab assignment Tuesday at Double-A Huntsville.
  • Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin was sent for an MRI on his sore left oblique.
  • Reds RP Nick Masset (shoulder) has been shut down from his throwing program.
  • Reds RP Sean Marshall (shoulder) threw his second bullpen session on Saturday since being placed on the disabled list.
American League:
  • Rangers first round pick (37) of the 2011 draft, OF Zack Cone, suffered a torn Achilles tendon and will miss rest of the season.
  • Rangers first round pick (pick 33) in 2011 pitcher Kevin Matthews is scheduled to undergo shoulder surgery and will miss remainder of the season.
  • Rays prospect SS Hak-Ju Lee suffered torn ligaments in his left knee Saturday in a game at Triple-A Durham.
  • Rangers SP Nick Tepesch left his start against the Mariners on Saturday with a right wrist contusion.
  • Rays OF Wil Myers (foot) played in the second game of Triple-A Durham's doubleheader on Saturday.
  • Indians SS Asdrubal Cabrera left Saturday's game against the Astros with a left wrist contusion.
  • Indians C Lou Marson (neck) could be activated Wednesday.
  • X-rays taken Saturday evening on Reds SS Zack Cozart's bruised right hand turned up negative.
  • Angels RP Ryan Madson felt soreness in his surgically-repaired elbow after throwing a simulated game on Friday.
  • Indians SP Brett Myers will head back to Cleveland on Sunday to undergo an MRI on his right forearm.
  • Red Sox OF Shane Victorino left Saturday's game against the Royals because of tightness in his lower back.
  • Athletics OF Yoenis Cespedes (hand) hit in a cage on Saturday and declared himself "ready" for activation.
  • Yankees 3B Kevin Youkilis was removed in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against Toronto with lower back tightness.
  • Yankees OF Curtis Granderson (forearm) told reporters Friday that he hopes to resume hitting activities soon.
  • The New York Daily News reports Michael Pineda (shoulder) is on track for a mid-season return.

  • Braves SP Paul Maholm is first starting pitcher to open season with 25 plus scoreless innings since Luis Tiant (27 IP) in 1966.
