Cardinals - 2 at 8 - Phillies

  • Phillies SP Roy Halladay gave up a pair of solo homers while striking out six over seven innings.
  • Cardinals SP Jaime Garcia was hammered for eight runs (four earned) on nine hits in three innings.
  • Phillies OF Ben Revere went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple and two runs scored.
  • Phillies C Humberto Quintero went 2-for-3 with two RBI's.
  • Cardinals OF Matt Holliday launched his 2nd homer of the season.
  • Cardinals OF Carlos Beltran hit his 3rd homer of the season.

Braves - 0 at 6 - Pirates

  • Pirates 3B Pedro Alvarez smashed a two-run homer, his 2nd of the season.
  • Pirates 1B Garrett Jones knocked in two with a single in the 5th inning.
  • Pirates SP Wandy Rodriguez turned in a very impressive performance, limiting the Braves to just one hit with five strikeouts over seven scoreless innings.
  • Braves OF B.J. Upton’s early season struggles continued in a losing effort, as he went 0-for-3 with a pair of strikeouts before being ejected in the sixth inning for arguing a called third strike.
  • Braves SP Tim Hudson was hit hard in a loss to the Pirates, surrendering six runs on nine hits in four-plus innings of work.

Marlins - 2 at 1 - Reds

  • Marlins OF Justin Ruggiano blasted a solo home run in the ninth inning to give the club the lead.
  • Marlins RP Steve Cishek worked a scoreless inning, preserving a 2-1 lead and recording his first save of the young season.
  • Marlins SP Kevin Slowey pitched well in a no-decision, allowing just one run on four hits over six strong innings.
  • Reds 1B Joey Votto’s first inning sacrifice fly accounted for the club's lone run in a losing effort.
  • Reds RP Aroldis Chapman showed his vulnerability for the first time of the 2013 season, surrendering a game-winning solo homer in the ninth inning.
  • Reds SP Mat Latos punched out a season-high 10 batters but had to settle for a no-decision after allowing one run on six hits over seven innings.

Nationals - 1 at 7 - Mets

  • Mets 1B Ike Davis went 2-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI, two runs scored, and two strike outs.
  • Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg allowed five hits, four runs (two earned), two home runs, two walks, and struck out six.
  • Mets SP Matt Harvey fanned seven, allowed just four hits, one earned run, and walked three in seven innings pitched. Harvey became the first pitcher this season to win four games (4-0).
  • Mets OF Lucas Duda went 2-for-3 with a walk and a pair of solo homers.

Cubs - 4 at 5 - Brewers

  • Brewers SP Marco Estrada allowed three earned runs on seven hits, two home runs, two walks, and struck out four while picking up the win.
  • Brewers RP Jim Henderson allowed no runs, one hit, and struck out one to earn his third save of the season.
  • Cubs SP Jeff Samardzija dropped to 1-3 on the season after giving up five runs (four earned) over seven innings.
  • Brewers OF Ryan Braun clubbed a three-run homer, his 4th of the season.
  • Cubs 1B Anthony Rizzo smacked a solo homer, his 5th of the season.
  • Cubs OF Alfonso Soriano went 3-for-4, raising his average to an even .300
  • Cubs OF David DeJesus went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI.

Diamondbacks - 1 at 3 - Rockies

  • Rockies SS Troy Tulowitzki slugged a decisive two-run homer, his 5th of the season.
  • Diamondbacks SP Ian Kennedy dropped his second straight start by giving up three runs in six innings.
  • Diamondbacks OF Gerardo Parra went 2-for-4 with two singles and a run scored.
  • Diamondbacks SS Didi Gregorious had his second straight two-hit game and now has four hits in his first eight at bats this season.
  • Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin turned in an excellent start going 6.1 inningsgiving up just three hits and striking out five while holding the Diamondbacks scoreless.
  • Rockies RP Rafael Betancourt picked up his 6th save of the season striking out one and lowering his ERA to 1.08.
Padres - 2 at 3 - Giants
  • Giants SP Madison Bumgarner allowed four hits, two earned runs, a home run, no walks, and struck out ten in a no-decision.
  • Giants CF Angel Pagan knocked in the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
  • Padres 3B Chase Headley hit his first home run of the season.
  • Padres SP Edinson Volquez held the Giants to two runs in six innings as part of a no-decision.
  • Giants RP Santiago Casilla picked up his second win of the season pitching 1.1 scoreless innings while striking out two.

American League:

Yankees - 9 at 4 - Blue Jays
  • Yankees SP Andy Pettitte yielded three runs in 7 1/3 innings.
  • Blue Jays SP Brandon Morrow was knocked around for seven runs (five runs) in 5 1/3 innings.
  • Yankees OF Vernon Wells went 2-for-5 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored.
  • Yankees DH Travis Hafner blasted his 5th home run of the season.
  • Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista launched his 4th home run of the season in his return to the lineup.
Royals - 0 at 0 - Red Sox
  • Major League Baseball announced that Friday's game between the Royals and Red Sox was postponed in order to "support efforts of law enforcement officers." No makeup date has been announced.
Athletics - 3 at 8 - Rays
  • Rays SP Alex Cobb gave up three runs in 7 1/3 innings while picking up the win.
  • Rays 2B Ben Zobrist went 2-for-4 with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base.
  • Rays 3B Evan Longoria launched his 4th home run of the season.
  • Athletics SS Jed Lowrie went 4-for-4 with an RBI single.
  • Athletics OF Coco Crisp continued his hot start going 2-for-4 and hitting his 5th homerun of the season.
  • Athletics 1B Brandon Moss went 2-for-3 with an RBI single in his return to action.
  • Athletics SP Brett Anderson lasted just one inning, giving up four runs on four hits.
Mariners - 0 at 7 - Rangers
  • Rangers OF Craig Gentry had a nice night at the dish going 2-for-4 with a two-run triple.
  • Rangers SP Yu Darvish racked up double-digit strikeouts for the second time on the season, punching out 10 over seven scoreless innings.
  • Mariners 2B Dustin Ackley had another miserable night at the plate, going 0-for-3 with a strikeout, dropping his average to .145.
  • Mariners SP Joe Saunders was hammered in a loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits over his 4 2/3 innings of work.
  • Rangers 1B Jeff Baker hit his 1st homerun of the season.
Twins - 0 at 0 - White Sox
  • Friday's game between the Twins and White Sox was postponed due to a forecast of cold and windy conditions in Chicago. No makeup date has been announced.
Indians - 2 at 3 - Astros
  • Astros OF Rick Ankiel belted his 4th homer of the season.
  • Astros RP Jose Veras finally notched his first save of the 2013 season, working a scoreless ninth.
  • Lucas Harrell picked up his first victory of the 2013 season, allowing two runs on five hits over 5 2/3 innings.
  • Indians 3B Lonnie Chisenhall launched a two-run homer, accounting for all of the Tribe’s offense.
  • Indians SP Brett Myers surrendered three runs on five hits over five frames.
  • Astros OF J.D. Martinez hit a two-run homer, his 2nd of the season. 
Tigers - 1 at 8 - Angels
  • Angels SP Tommy Hanson earned his 2nd win of the season as he dealt six shutout innings, allowing six hits and four walks while striking out two.
  • Angels OF Peter Bourjos went 3-for-4 with a three-run triple and a run scored.
  • Angels 1B Albert Pujols had a nice night at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two RBI's.
  • Tigers OF Austin Jackson stole two bases, his 3rd and 4th of the season.
  • Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez yielded three runs (two earned) in 6 2/3 innings.
  • Tigers 3B Miguel Cabrera went 3-for-4 with an RBI single and a walk.
Inter League:

Dodgers
 - 0 at 0 - Orioles
  • Friday's game between the Dodgers and Orioles was postponed due to rain. It will be made up as part of a split doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game scheduled to begin at 1:05 p.m. ET while the nightcap will begin at 7:05 p.m. ET.

National League:
  • Rockies recalled LHP Josh Outman from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
  • Rockies optioned RHP Chris Volstad to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
  • Braves signed RHP Erik Hamren to a minor league contract.
  • Cubs claimed OF Julio Borbon off waivers from the Rangers.
  • Marlins recalled RHP Tom Koehler from Triple-A New Orleans.
  • Marlins designated RHP John Maine for assignment.
American League:
  • Angels placed 3B Alberto Callaspo on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 11, with right calf tightness.
  • White Sox 3B Brent Morel has been placed on the 7-day disabled list with Triple-A Charlotte.
  • White Sox prospect outfielder Jared Mitchell has been demoted to Double-A Birmingham.
  • Indians transferred RHP Matt Albers to the restricted list.
  • The Tigers have assigned RP Jose Valverde to their High-A Lakeland roster.
  • Athletics activated OF Brandon Moss from the paternity list.
Injury Updates:

National League:

  • Nationals OF Denard Span (flu) singled in his return to action Friday.

  •  Rockies SP Jhoulys Chacin was diagnosed with left oblique stiffness.
  • Cubs RP Kyuji Fujikawa (forearm) played catch from a distance of 75 feet on Friday.

  • Brewers 1B Taylor Green is expected to miss the rest of the season following hip surgery.

  • Padres OF Cameron Maybin will wear a splint on his right wrist for about a week.

  • Cubs SP Matt Garza (lat) will make his first rehab start next Wednesday with Double-A Tennessee.

  • Dodgers RP Chris Capuano underwent an MRI on Thursday which confirmed the original diagnosis of a left calf strain.

  • Dodgers SP Ted Lilly (shoulder) will be activated from the disabled list to start next Wednesday against the Mets.

  • Mets prospect catcher Travis d'Arnaud (foot) is expected to miss around eight weeks.

  • X-rays came back negative on Phillies C Carlos Ruiz's left wrist after he was hit by a pitch Friday in an extended spring training game.

  • Braves RP Luis Avilan (hamstring) jogged and threw a 20-pitch bullpen session on Friday.

  • Dodgers SS Hanley Ramirez (thumb) went through a full workout on Friday.

  • Phillies OF Delmon Young (ankle) is scheduled to play three straight seven-inning games in the outfield in extended spring training from Thursday through Saturday.

  • Brewers 1B Corey Hart (knee) said he had a "good checkup" with team physician William Raasch on Thursday.

  • Braves 1B Freddie Freeman was the team's designated hitter in his first rehab start Friday for Triple-A Gwinnett. Freeman went 0-for-3 with a walk, and three strike outs.

  • In his first start since removing a blister that was causing him discomfort, Mets SP Zack Wheeler allowed four earned runs, three hits, struck out four, and walked six batters in 4.1 innings pitched at Triple-A Las Vegas. 

American League:
  • Astros OF J.D. Martinez was diagnosed with a right knee sprain and is considered day-to-day.
  • Angels RP Ryan Madson (elbow) faced live hitters in a simulated game on Friday.
  • Rangers RP Kyle McClellan (lat) is expected to throw off a mound by May 1.
  • Rangers RP Martin Perez (forearm) is expected to throw a bullpen session within 7-10 days.
  • Athletics SS Hiroyuki Nakajima (hamstring) will report to extended spring training on Monday.
  • Rangers RP Joakim Soria (elbow) tweaked his pectoral during a throwing session Friday.
  • Rangers SP Matt Harrison will undergo surgery Friday to repair a herniated disk in his lower back.
  • White Sox OF Dayan Viciedo will undergo treatment on his left oblique strain Friday and is considered day-to-day.
  • Red Sox RP Joel Hanrahan felt renewed soreness in his right hamstring when he threw on flat ground Thursday.
Notes and Rumors:

National League:
  • Cardinals C Yadier Molina was given his first day off of the season after catching all but two innings for the club in 2013.
  • Giants SP Yusmeiro Petit struck out 13 batters in 6 innings, including 7 straight, one K short of the PCL record 8 in a row while pitching for Triple-A Fresno Friday night.
