2013 Top Prospect Compilation - Version 14.1 (April 17, 2013)

Over the past several years, I've put together top prospect compilations from sources across the Internet. I have linked to the files below. The Excel workbooks contain tabs at the bottom representing each of the league’s divisions as well as a tab for top 100 lists and positional analysis.

This year, we've decided to change things up a bit. Instead of putting together the list myself, BP has partnered with FantasyRundown.com to provide our subscribers with one of the best prospect compilation resources on the Internet today.

FantasyRundown.com has compiled all of the 2013 MLB Prospect Rankings from all of the top sources on the Internet into an Excel spreadsheet. The spreadsheet consists of all top overall prospect rankings, team-by-team prospect rankings, and positional prospect rankings. Since we respect the enormous amount of work put into this project by "Goose" at FantasyRundown.com, and the fact that he sells the spreadsheet as a separate item on its own, this product will remain behind the BP pay wall for now, available only to subscribers.

Gee, I'm awfully glad I already paid Goose for this then. I mean it's not a lot of money but it would have been nice to know we were getting this from BP back when Goose first put his sheet out.

We just worked out the arrangement. There was no possible way of knowing this any earlier than Thursday. Believe me, if we knew, we would have told you. We weren't holding anything back.

Joe, they might take a look at the position rankings. Example: Panik is ranked by only one of the three bodies who have released 2B rankings, and they have him 3rd, so his overall average is 3rd. He's ahead of Schoop, who's ranked 6, 3 and 2 by the three bodies. Panik not appearing on two lists should count against him.

Amazing stuff here. "Matrix" suggestion: could an AL/NL indicator be added for those of us in non mixed leauges. Keep up the good work!

I've seen these type of compilations previously that couldn't include certain sources because of either copyright or pay wall concerns.

I don't see John Sickels on this list ... or am I overlooking him?

Oh, that question. Yes, like the lists I used to compile, these lists should only contain freely available prospect rankings or ones in which the author gave consent for Fantasy Rundown to use.

Here is Sickels' publicly available top 150 prospect list for 2013. http://www.minorleagueball.com/2013/3/13/4095252/minor-league-ball-top-150-prospects-for-2013-john-sickels. What's your next excuse for excluding him?

It's quite possible the Fantasy Rundown guys didn't see the list since they were never free. I'll send them the link. I've known John a long time, and I buy both the bound and pdf versions of his book. John knows us too and often links to us. Jason even participates in the comments at Minor League Ball. Nobody is excluding or avoiding anyone. So if you think we are, you're dead wrong.

Actually, Sickels' rankings are already in the spreadsheet under MiLB (MinorLeagueBall.com). The Fantasy Rundown guys didn't miss them.
