Nicholas Gordon (SS/RHP), out of Olympia High School (Orlando, Fla.), is one of the top prospects in a 2014 draft class that, at least initially, looks to be very strong at the top of the board. Gordon has benefitted on the pitching side from the tutelage of his father, Tom “Flash” Gordon, who logged over 2100 innings on the mound over the course of an impressive 21-year Major League career. His brother, Dee Gordon (who landed the starting shortstop job for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2012 before having his season cut short due to a torn ligament in his right hand), has likewise provided some guidance on the positional side.  It’s too early to determine whether Nicholas will ultimately be tabbed a potential front-end arm or an up-the-middle defender with a lead-off profile by his drafting team.  Either way, he figures to be a focal point for evaluators from June 2013 through May 2014. Today’s video is from the 2013 Perfect Game World Showcase, held at Terry Park (Jupiter, Florida). Gordon is committed to Florida State.
